Capacity: Full Time Contract

The GBV Facilitator is responsible for planning and implementing women and girls’ empowerment activities under the direct supervision of the GBV response officer and in close collaboration with the rest of the GBV team, and the MHPSS and Health department. The GBV Facilitator will contribute to violence prevention and empowerment activities in the West Bank. The position requires a personal commitment to be working with and for women and girls in the community.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES

 

  •  Plan and organize awareness sessions (e.g. GBV, sexual and reproductive health, early marriage, and Protection related issues for women and girls), psychosocial support sessions and soft−skill trainings at other safe spaces (e.g. community spaces, clinics, schools and mosques) in collaboration with community members, community groups, and any other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the medical and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) teams and ensure their support in facilitating relevant sessions.
  • Engage with the community in actively designing and implementing the activities & GBV services to ensure buy-in and support for associated activities.
  • Coordinate with other (e.g. protection, child protection, education) actors to ensure their support when needed.
  • Ensure adherence to the GBV guiding principles throughout all activities.
  • Ensure the voices of women and girls are integrated into all activities and discussions.
  • Improve strategies for sharing information with communities, particular women and girls, about services available to them.
  • Support arrangement of logistic aspects for awareness sessions, recreational activities and soft−skill trainings with the relevant office staff.
  • Support referrals, including of GBV cases to GBV Case Manager in line with GBV guiding principles.
  • Support conducting assessments, FGDs, surveys, safety audits, and service mapping.
  • Assist with developing new curriculums, community training methodologies, activity contents, and impact assessment tools.
  • Adapt services to changes occurring in the work environment, based on the feedback of the beneficiaries.
  • Support with submitting weekly, monthly and quarterly work plans and reports as required.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with IMC policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in social work, psychology, law or health-related field preferable
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Experience in in community mobilization, social work, counseling, or psychosocial services, capacity-building and leading focus group discussions
  • Experience in working with women, girls, women organizations or women’s group.
  • Experience in implementing, creating and adapting group activities, preferably aiming at women and girl’s empowerment.
  • Good understanding of protection principles, must demonstrate survivor- centered, respectful attitudes and a strong belief in gender equality
  • Friendly, approachable and team-oriented communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to organize work, coordinate multiple tasks, meet deadlines, work in a professional environment, work under pressure, and work within a multi-cultural team.
  • Knowledge of GBV prevention and response and women’s empowerment concepts
  • Previous experience working in INGO or NGO preferable.
  • Ability to design and implement appropriate and effective messaging and activities for GBV prevention and community outreach.
  • Ability to work under little supervision and to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Knowledge of English language is an added advantage
