The GBV Training Officer is responsible for organizing, planning and implementing GBV trainings under the direct supervision of the GBV Manager and in close collaboration with the rest of the GBV team, CP, and the MHPSS and Health department. The GBV Training Officer will contribute to the capacity building of IMC staff of different departments, other organizations as needed, and communities.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES

 

  • Plan and organize GBV trainings on different topics, according to the needs (e.g. GBV basic concepts and guiding principles, safe identification and referral of GBV survivors, GBV mainstreaming in other sectors in line with the IASC GBV Guidelines etc)
  • Collect, adapt, create the training material in coordination with the GBV Manager.
  • Work closely with the IMC GBV team to identify the training needs and topics. Coordination with the GBV Women Empowerment Officer and GBV Outreach Workers is particularly important when it comes to trainings to be delivered to the communities, with the GBV Counsellor for trainings related to identification, referral of cases and survivor centered approach, with the GBV Manager for trainings to be delivered to other agencies/actors.
  • Coordinate with other IMC program departments, including Health, CP and MHPSS to provide training tailored to their needs and staff.
  • Ensure that every participant fills in the pre-test on the first day before the training and fills in the post-test on the last day after the training ends.
  • Ensure that every participant fills in a training evaluation form on the last day.
  • Ensure that every participant fills out and signs the attendance sheet.
  • Submit all necessary materials to the GBV Manager and Monitoring and Evaluation Department to report on the activity.
  • Support arrangement of logistic aspects of the trainings with the relevant office staff.
  • Support conducting assessments, FGDs, surveys, safety audits, and service mapping.
  • Assist with developing new curriculums, and community training methodologies.
  • Support with submitting weekly, monthly and quarterly work plans and reports as required.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with IMC policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IMC programming.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in preparing and facilitating trainings and broader capacity-building of different actors.
  • Experience in creating and adapting training material to the context and needs, and use Power Point
  • Familiarity with different training strategies
  • Good understanding of Gender Based Violence and Protection principles must demonstrate survivor- centered, respectful attitudes and a strong belief in gender equality.
  • Friendly, approachable, and team-oriented communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders Strong ability to organize work, coordinate multiple tasks, meet deadlines, work in a professional environment, work under pressure, and work within a multi-cultural team
  • Knowledge of GBV curricula, material best practices
  • Previous experience working in INGO or NGO preferable
  • Degree in social work, psychology, law or health-related field preferable
  • Ability to work under little supervision and to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Excellent oral and written English and Arabic skills (essential)
