Responsibilities
Maan Network seeks qualified applicants for the position of Gender Expert for the newly established Gender Unit. This individual will be primarily responsible for guiding the Gender Units activities in coordination with Maan Networks Projects and Communication Department around three core responsibilities:
Managing an Online Womens Resource Centre on Maan News Agencys website: This will include responding to SMS, emails, and phone calls from anonymous sources reporting communal instances of violence against women and girls.
Advising Maan Networks Production Team on 4 different television productions: The Gender Unit will need to use their local expertise to choose relevant court cases from the OPT of violence against women and girls in the production of a courtroom drama.
Assist with a national research project on violence against women and girls (VAWG) in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. This will comprise providing expert guidance in research activities including desk research, design and development of questionnaires for interviews and focus groups, and analysis of research data for reporting.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
University degree (minimum of Bachelors Degree, post-graduate degree preferred) in Gender Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Development or a similarly related field
At least 3 years of experience in the subject area, preferably with both local and international experience, including proven experience in design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of gender projects
Excellent knowledge of the gender context in the OPT
Experience in research and policy analysis
Excellent spoken and written communications skills in Arabic and English is essential
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Flexible, capable of working under pressure and against deadlines
Impeccable presentation and strong networking skills
An existing network of contacts in the field of gender and VAWG prevention in the OPT would be an asset
