SOS Children’s Village Rafah seeks to recruit:
Position: Girls Youth Care Co-worker (Girls Youth leader)
Location: SOS Children’s Village Rafah
Position summary: The Youth Care Co-worker is responsible for guiding the SOS Children’s Village youth according to SOS Children’s Villages policies and procedures towards independence, so that when they leave the care of SOS Children’s Village they shall be self-sufficient contributing members of society. Following achieving this, the Youth Care Co-worker should be seen as a role model providing advice, guidance, support and a positive example to the youth in their development from adolescence to adulthood.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to:
-leads the Individual Development Plan (IDP) process and ensures that each youth has an IDP and that this is used effectively
-leads the transition process where the youth are transferred from the village to the youth homes and then the resettlement process when the youth finally leave the youth homes
-creates a safe environment for the youth to live in and promotes a supportive environment where each individual is encouraged to be involved in the day to day running of the home
-enables the youth to take responsibility for their own development and supports them in learning the required personal and practical skills needed to live an independent life
-helps the youths in developing and maintaining good relationships with their wider families and communities
-encourages them to gain understanding of their social, religious and cultural background
-works with the mothers in the SOS village from where the youths have been transferred
-Helps in budget preparation and administration. Accounts for all financial transactions as instructed by his/her manager or the operations department ensuring responsible financial planning at all times
-Ensures the properties/facilities and goods in the youth facility are effectively managed
-Produces good quality regular and ad-hoc reports in line with requirements from his/her manager and/or the national office
Qualifications:
-Degree in social work, psychology, social science or related field
-Minimum 3 years’ experience working with youth
-Fluency in both English and Arabic
-Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
