PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
The Mercy Corps Compliance Department is responsible for all financial, administrative and other compliance.  The Compliance Department ensures compliance with donor regulations as well as Mercy Corps’ internal policies and procedures and provides oversight over all aspects of program implementation to ensure that full compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
   
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
Working in the Grants and Compliance Department under the direction of the Grants and Compliance Director, the Grants and Compliance Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Grants and Compliance Officer in all aspects of his/her daily activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1-Assist with the preparation of files and documents for sub grantee pre-award assessments.
2-Assist with the review of sub grantee financial and other reports and follow up on reporting deadlines.
3-Assist with the review of sub grantee support documents submitted in support of monthly and other regular reports.
4-Receive and assist with review and processing of sub grantee vetting, waiver and other requests to donors.
5-Prepare vetting and other compliance related requests for donor for Mercy Corps activities.
6-Assist with the preparation of regular compliance reports to donors.
7-Assist with review and consolidation of sub grantee reports for regular and periodic donor reporting.
8-Maintain Grants and Compliance department files.
9-Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
10-Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None

ACCOUNTABILITY
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO:Grants and Compliance Officer
WORKS DIRECTLY WITH:Mercy Corps Finance Department and Sub grantees

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
-Three or more years of finance experience, including budgeting and grant management or auditing
-Experience in the Finance Department of an non-governmental organization preferable
-A degree in finance, Business administration or a relevant qualification.
-Good administrative and clerical skills.
-Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel and Access. 
-Excellent oral and written English skills

Process information in support of changing program activities is necessary. 
A high professional standard of ethics and ability to enforce compliance with Mercy Corps and donor policies and procedures is essential.
