Guard/Gardener

Dar Yusuf Nasri Jacir for Art and Research is a space for art, education and research. The center will host and organize art exhibitions, workshops, master classes, seminars, and a residency program to host local and international artists, researchers, musicians, and filmmakers. In addition, the center will be devoted to cultural and educational activities in collaboration with local communities and other centers in the Bethlehem area and from there outwards to the rest Palestine.

Dar Yusuf Nasri Jacir for Art and Research Center through the Institute for Palestine Studies (IPS) is seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual for the position of Guard/Gardener to work at the center in Bethlehem. This position is funded through the “Visual Arts: A Flourishing Field” (VAFF) project, an A. M. Qattan Foundation project funded by the Consulate General of Sweden represented by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The description of this position is as follows:

Duties & Responsibilities – (Security Guard)

Protect the property and all its contents by maintaining a safe and secure environment. (He needs to make his presence clearly visible at all time).
Possess the ‘vigilant character’ in observing signs of disorder and investigate disturbances. Being vigilant covers the initiative of being sensitive to any strange thing that may harm the property, its contents and the resident staff. Examples: Being sensitive to smell, i.e. if there is a cable burning; strong sensitivity to sound, i.e. when someone is trying to trespass opening the door or gate of the property).
Possess the decisive character in taking note of unusual occurrence of incidents cannot handle by himself alone and the initiative to immediately report the incidents to the authorities (police, fire brigade staff, etc.), most of all, immediately report any threatening situation to his employers.
Checking and Monitoring security method as tailored as standing rules and operating procedures by his employers.
Maintain order among people. (To be visible at all times whenever there is large gathering of people and to intervene when there is an occurrence of unusual incident.)
Receive visiting guests at the premise with courtesy and with welcoming manner.
Perform other special duties as required by his employers such as answering phone calls, running vital errands for his employers.
Prompt to his scheduled duty/assignment at all times – (From 7 AM to 7PM).

Duties & Responsibilities of Garden-keeper

Responsible for the general maintenance of the gardens, plants and lawns of the property.
Duties include soil cultivation, watering, weeding, fertilizing and planting.
Responsible for safekeeping of all garden tools after its use.
Prompt to his scheduled duty/assignment at all times.
