HEA Officer
Job Description
World Vision is an international Christian relief and development organization dedicated to working with poor and vulnerable children, families and communities to overcome the root causes of poverty. Humanitarian Emergency Affairs (HEA) is a key approach of World Vision’s holistic framework to assisting in identifying places at risk of disaster, preparing resources and staff in high-risk zones, and building capacity and resilience among communities to help them protect themselves before an emergency and rebuild afterwards.
HEA Officer
The successful candidate will:
-Assist in developing relief and disaster related concept papers, project proposals, logframes, annual plans and budgets to major donors.
-Liaise with appropriate governmental donor organizations on funding opportunities and pro-actively pursue grants for relief and emergency preparedness and response.
-Prepare monthly, annual and end-of-project narrative reports.
-Contribute to the roll out of Relief and Emergency Strategy in all World Vision offices
in the West Bank and Gaza along with updation and operationalization of community disaster preparedness plans.
-Provide and or coordinate training on relief and disaster standards, management, etc.
-Implement as required, disaster response, mitigation and other related projects.
Qualifications/Requirements
-Bachelor degree in social science or a relevant field.
-At least 3 years of broad and deep experience in providing technical expertise in HEA.
-Able to provide training to staff on HEA & Emergency Planning.
-Strong commitment to build and work in a team environment and proven quality on this.
-Ability to operate effectively and sensitively in the culture and present context of the country
-Some level of travel is expected, sometimes even to a highly sensitive areas.
-Very good oral and written skills (English & Arabic)
-Thinking clearly, deeply and broadly
-Valid driving license.
-Commitment to achieving quality results and service
-Practicing gender and cultural diversity.
-Achieving quality results and service.
-Good knowledge on computer skills e.g. Microsoft word, excel, power point, email and internet.
-Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
-Integrity and strong identification with WV Core Values.
-Position is based in Jerusalem
