COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATORS (MALE OR FEMALE)
Office base location: Jenin
Main Purpose
Prepare, provide, and present health education sessions to the population/patients according to MSF principles and values.
This involves promoting health information through health measures and hygiene conditions and, providing information about MSF activities to facilitate access to healthcare.
Main Responsabilities
- Prepare material and deliver health education sessions, messages, and topics to different populations regarding hygiene, diseases, and prevention.
- Ensure all the patients and caretakers are informed about health-related issues, protocols, and services provided.
- Monitor the health situation and living conditions of the population by conducting nutritional screening and, collecting information related to people arriving or leaving the community, births and deaths, food security issues, vaccination status of children, and any gaps or health-related concerns that would require particular attention.
- Identify people with medical problems, liaise with the medical team, report and facilitate immediate transfer as needed.
- Report to the line manager the results of screening and visits regularly and, any problems encountered about the population, equipment, materials, etc.
Context-Specific Tasks
- Working as part of MSF mobile clinics, together with the medical team from Jenin and spending 2 to 3 days every week in Jericho (and possibly other locations) and 2-3 days in Jenin for preparation of activities.
- Co-facilitating mental health awareness sessions according to the needs of the target population and MSF standards.
- Delivering general health messages and information on MSF and external health services.
- Conducting assessment of mental health needs in collaboration with the medical team and facilitating linkage to external actors with the support of the Mental Health Activity Manager (MHAM).
- Participating in weekly planning of activities and collaborating actively with the medical team to offer integrated services and promote quality care as per MSF standards.

Education:
- Literacy and numeracy (essential)
- Basic knoweldge of public health and/or community health care (desirable)
- Willingness to actively and continuously participate in MSF training on health messages (essential)
- Experience in delivering/facilitating group information sessions (essential)
- Experience in collaborating with Mental Health services (desirable)
- Experience in teaching (an asset)
- Fluently in English orally and in writing (essential)
