United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is willing to fill the following vacant post:
Title: Human Resources Assistant, Jerusalem
Level: GS5– Fixed Term Appointment – IMIS No. OPT09017
Key Tasks and responsibilities of the Assignment:
Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Officer, assist to carry out Human Resources support functions through undertaking the following key tasks:
1. Prepares HR briefing material and background information for the supervisor’s use. Searches office files and records related to a variety of topics for information and references. Selects information and records in specified format for use by the supervisor in preparing various reports, correspondence, and surveys.
2. Assists in the recruitment process: receive applications and draft regret letters to all applicants. Assembles relevant documents for SAP/APC Meetings for GS and NO posts. Prepares and compiles relevant material for orientation of new staff.
3. Drafts responses to routine queries from staff and offices concerning a range of standard Human Resource matters, special reports, evaluations and justifications required on general HR administration or specialized tasks that are of confidential nature within assigned area of responsibility.
4. Maintains leave attendance and home leave points records and produces status reports.
5. Receives, registers, and prepares an update on the PER status to be reviewed by supervisor before sharing it with Management and all staff in the office.
6. Maintains all personnel files in the office and ensure efficient and confidential record keeping of all personnel documents. Closes and archives HR files.
7. Arranges staff UNLPs renewals through UNDP or NYHQ before their expiry date.
8. Maintains follow-up system for staff medical examination and arranges medical appointments for staff with UN physicians. Updates the list of staff and dependants for the local UN Clinic.
9. Assists in the update and maintenance of the Consultancy database
10. Performs other duties, as required
Selection Criteria
Academic Qualifications

Completion of Secondary Education. A course in administration or HR management would be an asset.
Work Experience
5 years of general administrative experience. Knowledge of Human Resource practices is an asset.
Experience in an international organization is an advantage.
Competencies Analytical and conceptual ability; communication skills. Planning and monitoring skills; ability to
organize work & projects. Ability to make timely and quality judgments and decisions. Commitment to continuous learning for professional development. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.
Initiative, passion and commitment to UNICEF’s mission and professional values.
Languages Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written). Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
Computer Very good working knowledge and use of computer applications, specifically office applications (Power Point, Excel and Word) and internet tools. Use of database and statistical software an asset.
