The role
Focusing on Oxfam’s ECHO funded programmearound public health and food security, you will help to strengthen humanitarian response and preparedness  in Gaza. Specifically, you will look at the design and implementation of our programmes, working with the managers of the individual projects to develop objectives, implementation plans and strategies. We will also expect you to support and facilitate a number of multi-agency programming and policy initiatives which seek to improve context analysis, shared approaches, interventions and collaborative advocacy to address the root causes of de development and need in Gaza.
Another important aspect of your role will include leading humanitarian preparedness and response for all Oxfam affiliates in country; directing advocacy, lobby and campaigning; supporting the country office operations and direction.
Inevitably, the problems in OPTI are complex, diverse and fluid, so you will need to constantly monitor and evaluate context and programmes to ensure they have the intended quality and impact and that we learn from our operations. In addition, you can expect all the essential programme management responsibilities, from budgets management, recruitment and staff training.
 
What we’re looking for
As well as experience of managing complex humanitarian work within a conflict area, you will bring a strong understanding of coordinating a consortium of partnerships with a wide range of diverse partners. Confident when it comes to humanitarian principles, standards and knowledge, you know how to turn strategy into action, how to manage programmes and projects, how to influence key stakeholders and how to build positive relationships with people. This is a well defined role and we are looking for someone with the drive and vision to build on our successes here so far. A commitment to our objectives is key, especially when it comes to equal opportunity and gender policies, and you will also need to be eligible to work in Gaza.
