Humanitarian & Emergency Affairs Officer
World Vision is an international Christian humanitarian aid agency working with the most marginalized and poor communities of the world.
The project “ Strenghtening Community Resilience in the Gaza Strip” aims to improve the liveihoods and resilience of targeted househlds within 15 commonuties in the the northern and southern regions in Gaza that have been severely impacted by recent conflict. The project will strengthen the capacity of key partner agencies to deliver better services to their constituencies in Gaza. World Vision Australia as the lead agency with World Vision JWG, will work with two major project partners: The Union of Agricultural Works Committee and four CBOs to implement the Project. The project will directly benefit up to 1,180 poor and vulnerable households (approximately 8,260 individuals) with a total budget of AUD 5.4 million and be implemented in five components over 53months (December 2009-April2014) in four phases. Extension for additional 12 months is confirmed to end in April 2015.
-Ensure that all activities related to HEA are in alignment with the national strategy
-Initiate/Participate in AMENCA field activities and develop immediate vulnerability analysis
-Conduct community trainings directly or through qualified trainers
-Write monthly, quarterly and annual report and submit to appropriate channels within the organization
-Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor
Qualifications/Requirements
-Bachelor degree in social science or a relevant field.
-At least 3 years’ experience in relief and development work
-Strong experience in field report writing, assessment and data collection
-Experience in the development and implementation of training programs and capacity building initiatives
-Familiarity with humanitarian quality assurance mechanisms including Sphere, Red Cross Code of Conduct, Humanitarian Accountability Partnership, Do No Harm, People in Aid, Code of Good Practice
-Strong commitment to build and work in a team environment
-Strong communications skills (English & Arabic)
-Experience in working with and in liaison of other stakeholders including UN agencies and INGOs
-Thinking clearly, deeply and broadly
-Commitment to achieving quality results and service
-Practicing gender and cultural diversity.
-Excellent analytical skills and problem solving skills
-Ability and willingness to travel frequently to ADP/Project areas
-Valid driving license and ability to operate 4x4 vehicles
-Integrity and strong identification with WV Core Values.
