WeWorld has been working in Palestine since 1992, operating in the field of human rights, humanitarian aid and development to guarantee Palestinian communities access to basic services and available natural resources, in particular with regard to integrated service management, the strengthening of the integrated protection of the population and the enhancement of local socio-economic development in a sustainable and innovative way, with particular attention to the social and economic empowerment of women.
WeWorld in Palestine has 5 offices (Jerusalem, Ramallah, Hebron, Tubas and Gaza Strip). Over the decades, WeWorld has implemented several interventions funded by multiple donors: ECHO and EU, UN agencies as UNICEF and OCHA, as well as national agencies such as AICS, SIDA, GIZ, JICA, GFFO, FCDO, and others.
With a people-centered approach, the priorities are always identified together with the communities we serve, with a specific focus on a triple Nexus approach. The significant amount of data and analysis collected and elaborated by WeWorld in oPt inform the intervention of multiple agencies in Country. WeWorld is a member of the Global WASH Cluster and is part of all the clusters at national level: WASH, Education, Food Security/Livelihoods, Shelter, Protection and Health. WeWorld is currently active in emergency operations and activities within Gaza to support the ongoing crisis.
OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Hygiene Assistant will support the Hygiene Officer in implementing hygiene promotion activities for
World’s intervention in Gaza. This position includes assisting in needs assessments, coordinating hygiene
promotion activities, and engaging with communities and stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
Additionally, the Hygiene Assistant will contribute to monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning
(MEAL) activities, including data collection and reporting to enhance project quality
MAIN ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIEs:
Needs Assessments and Analysis:
• Support the Hygiene Officer in conducting needs assessments & site visits in targeted communities
to identify hygiene-related vulnerabilities, gaps, and priorities needed for intervention.
• Support the analysis of assessment findings and contribute to the development of hygiene
promotion plans based on identified needs.
• Assist in the selection of beneficiaries according to set criteria.
Project Implementation Support:
• Support the implementation of general hygiene promotion activities within the community.
• Support in establishing and coordinating a network of Hygiene Promoters and Community Hygiene
Committees at community level.
• Assist in organizing and facilitating hygiene-related focus group discussions, awareness sessions
and community-based initiatives.
• Disseminate hygiene-related messaging through appropriate channels to raise awareness and
promote good hygiene practices.
• Monitor the distribution and use of hygiene kits and materials.
• Assist the Hygiene Officer in liaising with project staff, partners, and stakeholders to coordinate
activities.
• Submit regular updates and reports to the Hygiene Officer.
• Ensure active participation of women-headed households in hygiene promotion activities.
• Encourage the participation of community members throughout the program.
• Act in a way that is sensitive to gender, protection, the environment, and other important crosscutting concern
Data Collection, MEAL and Reporting:
• Collect accurate and timely data related to hygiene promotion activities using appropriate tools.
• Assist in preparing progress reports, case studies, and success stories for internal and external
dissemination.
• Participate in monitoring visits to project sites to assess progress and ensure quality standards
• Support the integration of beneficiary feedback into project planning and decision-making.
• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by the Hygiene Officer or Public Health Officer.

➢ Qualifications and Experience:
•Diploma or degree in a relevant field such as public health, social sciences, or related disciplines.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in hygiene promotion, community health, or related fields,
preferably with a local or international NGO/ UN.
• Basic understanding of project management, including planning, implementation, and monitoring.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to assist in needs assessments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse
stakeholders.
