Hygiene Promotion Officer
Action Against Hunger (ACF) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-political, non-denominational and non-profit making organisation working in the Palestinian Territory since 2002.
ACF is recruiting for its Gaza office a
Hygiene Promotion Officer
to commence as soon as possible for an initial 6 months
The Candidate will:
-Ensure the correct implementation of the activities defined by the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program Manager,
-Asses and update project needs (HR, financial, logistics).
-Prepare training materials and conduct training for program beneficiaries and partners according to the methodology prepared in coordination with the WASH Program Manager.
-Supervise the distribution of hygiene kits.
-Write internal reports on the activities.
-Lead hygiene promotion activities under the WASH Program Manager‘s supervision and sensitize local partners in the field.
-Identify the community’s training needs on hygiene practises.
-Organize information meetings with community members to develop their knowledge in terms of water quality and hygienic practices.
-Participate in the design and implementation of WASH assessments, surveys or any other project identification studies in collaboration and coordination with the WASH Program Manager and WASH Coordinator. Participate in ongoing information-gathering from other NGOs, institutions, local authorities and other key actors about the local food security situation.
-Maintain and cultivate positive working relations at the technical level with counterparts, beneficiaries and other external actors related to ACF activities.
-Attend local WASH meetings or project-related community meetings in coordination with the Program Manager.
-Participate in weekly base coordination meetings
-Participate in the writing of any technical documents related to the implementation of WASH activities (terms of reference, surveys, technical evaluation and final reports, etc.)
-Write internal weekly activity report (to be send to WASH Program Manager and Coordinator)
-Write minutes with conclusions, recommendations and action points resulting from meetings or field visits.
-Any other duties as requested by the Program Manager such as the creation of promotional or donor-related PowerPoint presentations or booklets.
Profile of the Candidate:
-Bachelor degree in public health or Health Education.
-Solid experience in public awareness and hygiene promotion activities is preferable.
-Minimum 3 years proven relevant field experience in hygiene promotion context in the Gaza Strip.
-Fluency in reading, writing and speaking Arabic and English
-Capacity to apply organizational rules and procedures.
-Capacity to treating information confidentially.
-Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
-Flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
-Fully proficient in MS-Office and Internet.
-Ideally able to travel to the West Bank and Jerusalem and stay overnight.
