Supervisor:

The incumbent of this post reports to the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Principal.

Responsibilities

The Inclusive Education and Training Specialist will support creating an inclusive environment where a better inclusion of trainees with different abilities, including PWDs, through the following responsibilities:

  1. Contribute to a comprehensive assessment of the needs and barriers to inclusion in the training centers VTCs.
  2. Review TVET policies and practices to identify barriers that prevent students with disabilities from applying, enrolling, and completing vocational and technical training. Recommend policy initiatives and changes to remove identified barriers.
  3. Providing support to TVET to mainstream disability, identifying existing barriers to persons with disabilities and options to overcome these barriers;
  4. Providing individual-specific guidance to students with disabilities to successfully undertake TVET training.
  5. Identify options to improve accessibility and use of ICT for students with disabilities, including through procurement of assistive technology and accessible communication materials.
  6. Train teaching staff on inclusion and reasonable accommodation of trainees needs, including on adaptation of curriculum, different instructional and testing/assessment approaches to accommodate diverse student needs.
  7. Design and implement awareness raising campaigns to encourage and enhance PWDs enrollment in TVET.
  8. Support inclusive training services in the VTCs, support staff to ensure inclusion and accommodation of students with different needs including PWDs in all services and students' life, including extracurricular activities.
  9. Provide disability-specific support to students with disabilities to apply, enroll, and complete vocational and technical training at UNRWA TVET centers.
  10. Support VTCs staff to conduct assessment of individual needs to develop individual support plans.
  11. Coordinate with UNRWA relevant departments especially disability and protection to ensure better implementation of related UNRWA frameworks.
  12. Establish network of support for inclusive vocational training.
  13. Build relationships with schools and organizations to increase interests in TVET by students with disabilities, and to identify potential applicants.
  14. Build relationships with employers, both public and private, to raise disability awareness and increase training and placement opportunities for trainees with disabilities.
  15. Build relationships with other TVETs to exchange experience in disability inclusion.
  16. Monitor progress, document lessons learned throughout the project to guide further development on inclusive vocational and technical training at UNRWA.
  17. Provide monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports as needed.
  18. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirements

Education

University degree from an accredited institution in inclusive education, special education, guidance and counseling, psychology, or any related field.

Job Specific Qualifications

Work Experience

Knowledge and experience in working with TVET is preferred. Minimum of two years of relevant experience in inclusive education and\ or disability inclusion is required.

Languages

Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.

Assessment

- Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview

Special Notice

Type of Contract: Limited Duration Contract (LDC), Band E. The Limited Duration Contract applies to external candidates and UNRWA internal candidates on LDC.

Duration of Contract: One year- with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.

Grade & Salary: LDC- Band E monthly basic salary ranges JOD (1,025.30)

Other Benefits: Other benefits include compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave pro-rated to the duration of the contract where less than one year, and family allowance (if applicable).

Additional benefits:

-2 days of sick leave for each completed month of service.

-Maternity Leave, upon meeting eligibility requirements.

Only candidates residing in West Bank or Jerusalem, and within commuting distance of the duty station with authorization to work in the duty station at the time of application are eligible to apply.
