Information Technology (IT) Support Officer
Job Description
Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is an International Humanitarian Organization and a member of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. QRCS in cooperation with Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has initiated its Programs/projects implementation on Jan. 2011, to address emergency and humanitarian needs in Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza Strip. QRCS invites candidates to apply for the following position:
Information Technology (IT) Support Officer
Primary responsibilities of the IT Support Officer include ensuring network optimal stability, maintaining local area network, backing-up all office network files, assisting with hardware and software support, providing internal and remote support and troubleshooting services to staff, and training staff in Microsoft Outlook, database system, and other software packages as necessary.
Location: Gaza Strip
Duration: One Year with possibility for extension
Specific Responsibilities:
IT Support
-Provide day-to-day maintenance of the Local Area Network (LAN) in QRC Gaza office;
-Detect, isolate, and troubleshoot LAN problems;
-Track, isolate and troubleshoot potential internet and e-mail problems for remote and local users;
-Install various network components such as cables, hubs, points, etc;
-Install new telephone and UPS points to accommodate new users’ needs;
-Add and delete users to LAN as needed;
-Track daily backups of data on external hard disks;
-Responsible for backing up all office network files;
-Conduct system comparisons and analysis;
-Solicit vendor quotes, specifications and purchase requisitions;
-Ensure network optimal stability, cost effectiveness and user friendliness;
-Oversee system installation and troubleshooting; and
-Update anti-virus software and provide instructions to users.
-Analyze and recommend local IT consultants/service providers for outsourcing; and
-Review and revise IT vendor agreements as appropriate.
Database System Administration
-Assist in development of QRC local database system in QRC Gaza office,
-Provide overall operation and maintenance of QRC Gaza projects’ database.
-Responsible for day-to-day operation of the grants database designed to provide an internal management and external reporting tool and operate as an archival system.
-Assist the projects’ officers in ensuring that the project approval and implementation are properly documented, recorded and maintained in the database.
-Assist the projects’ officers to ensure the collection, review, and entry of all relevant project information into the database.
-Create regular database reports for project staff and in coordination with QRC Gaza office Director for quarterly reports.
-Assist other team members with use of the database as needed.
-Assist QRC Gaza office Director in providing data updates to QRC Head Office.
Hardware and Software Support
-Provide hardware support on computers, printers, etc;
-Provide software support; and
-Provide communications support.
Procurement
-Provide specifications for procurement of office equipment;
-Analyze office equipment procurement bids, and submit recommendations;
-Analyze and recommend specifications of IT related equipment under project agreements; and
-Review offers received under project agreements for IT related equipment.
Staff Training
-Train staff in Microsoft Outlook and other software packages as necessary; and
-Train staff, as necessary, on office telephone system.
Skills & Minimum Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in IT or computer engineering, with relevant post qualification experience (minimum 3 years).
-Strong reporting and representation skills.
-Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English.
-Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritising a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.
-Demonstrated experience of team leadership and staff management.
-Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues.
-An understanding of and commitment to QRCS’s mission and values.
