Infrastructure Area Engineer
Job Description
CHF is seeking a candidate for an Infrastructure Area Engineer position in its Gaza Office. The Infrastructure Area Engineer shall be responsible for leading a team of design engineers working on structural construction drawings and designs related to CHF’s role under PCAP, which comprise of Housing, Infrastructure and Agriculture.
Infrastructure Area Engineer (1 position) – Gaza
Programs: USAID-PCAP
Duration: 1 Year (possible renewal)
Job Summary and Duties:
CHF is seeking a candidate for an Infrastructure Area Engineer position in its Gaza Office. The Infrastructure Area Engineer shall be responsible for leading a team of design engineers working on structural construction drawings and designs related to CHF’s role under PCAP, which comprise of Housing, Infrastructure and Agriculture.
Responsibilities:
-Undertaking technical and feasibility studies and site investigations;
-Developing detailed designs, including COGAT requests for infrastructure projects
-Comprehensive revision of project proposals and designs submitted to CHF
-Assessing the potential risks of specific projects, as well as undertaking risk management in specialist roles;
-Communicating and liaising effectively with colleagues and architects, subcontractors, contracting civil engineers, consultants, co-workers and clients;
-Thinking both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems;
-Managing change, as the donor/beneficiary may require change about the design, and identifying,
formalizing and notifying relevant parties of changes in the project;
-Leading teams of other engineers, including other organizations or firms;
-Compiling, checking and approving reports;
-Reviewing and approving project drawings;
-Using a range of design computer packages for designing projects and undertaking complex and repetitive calculations;
-Attending public meetings to discuss projects, especially in a senior role;
-Adopting all relevant requirements around issues such as building permits, environmental regulations, sanitary design, good manufacturing practices and safety on all work assignments;
-Correcting any project deficiencies that affect production, quality and safety requirements prior to final evaluation and project reviews.
Qualifications:
Education and Training
-A Master’s degree in civil engineering/program management or other related field, or a combination of 10 years’ experience working in this sector with a university degree.
Experience
-At least 7 years relevant experience with international organizations or engineering design offices and designing complex projects.
-Past work with USAID and/or European funded programs preferred.
Technical skills
-Experience carrying out AutoCAD designs, including survey work.
-High analytical and reporting skills.
-Ability to solve problems in the field with other engineers and contractors
-Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
-Excellent command of excel and other database applications.
-Computer/word processing and standard office software skills.
