International Advocacy Coordinator job (Lawyers for Justice) 

Lawyers for Justice is a human rights organization based in Ramallah. It began its legal and human rights activities in 2011 as an individual initiative, which grew in response to the increasing violations of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories. At the time when the human right system was being subjected to many violations that increased widely in the context of a weak legal system and the absence of oversight over the performance of the executive authority, Lawyers for Justice was able to provide all forms of legal support and empowerment through its offices, including legal representation in Palestinian courts, documenting human rights violations, raising awareness about detainees' rights from the moment of arrest until release, and also monitoring the guarantees of a fair trial for human rights defenders. The group adopts strategic litigation and advocacy for cases to urge the state to adhere to fair trial guarantees. 

Location: Ramallah. 

Main tasks and responsibilities:

1. Monitor and document the violations of women's rights for local and international advocacy purposes.

2. Working on building a detailed database that includes all testimonies collected and all information related to the researchers’ work for advocacy and pressure purposes.

3. Follow up with the organization’s lawyers on cases represented by the group in Palestinian courts and Israeli courts.

4. Participate in local and international advocacy campaigns.

5. Communicate with local and international institutions, especially those concerned with monitoring fair trial guarantees.

6. Prepare oral and written submissions for the Special Rapporteur and the Human Rights Council, and contribute in drafting legal reports and human rights analytical studies within the area of expertise, according to the work plan.

7. Participate in preparing reports, and shadow reports for contractual and non-contractual frameworks, according to the work plan and under the supervision of the group director.

8. Contribute in developing the reports on human rights violations, especially those affecting human rights defenders and political activists.

9. Support the development of documentation and advocacy campaigns.

10. Represent the organization in conferences and meetings at the local, regional, and international levels.

11. Monitor daily updates on cases being followed by the organization and publish them on the website and social media platforms.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

- Must have at least a Bachelor's degree in Law, Human Rights, International Law, Humanities or Social Sciences.

- Proficiency in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.

- Experience in documentation and advocacy.

- Experience in research / fieldwork.

- Knowledge of United Nations systems, and contractual and non-contractual frameworks.

- Experience in the field of work related to the human rights defenders and human rights in general.

- Communication skills.

- Must align with the organization's vision, mission, and objectives.

- Experience in report writing.

Other Requirements:

1. Ability to work during crises and as part of a team, and to interact positively with colleagues.

2. Negotiation skills with different target groups and the ability to interact with various segments of society and its governmental and non-governmental institutions.

3. Knowledge of social change theories at the national and international levels concerning women’s rights and human rights, in alignment with the center’s vision.

4. Ability to cope with work pressure and flexibility in working hours.

5. Ability to travel within the West Bank cities.

6. Good knowledge of computer use, especially Microsoft Office programs.
