Background:
BADIL Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights is a Palestinian human rights organization established in 1998 and based in Bethlehem. BADIL is dedicated to defending and promoting the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people in general and the rights of the displaced in particular. BADIL utilizes a rigorous rights and evidence based legal analysis established within the frameworks of international humanitarian, human rights, criminal and refugee law to further advance the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
Position: International Advocacy Officer
Location: Bethlehem, Palestine
Scope: Full-time
Availability: Immediately
Responsible to: Advocacy Unit Manager
Main Purpose: The management of work flow related to the implementation of the advocacy program priorities of BADIL. This position coordinates and implements the organization's legal and international advocacy initiatives, networking and mobilization, outreach and promotion.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance and support in initiating, developing and implementing BADIL’s legal and international advocacy action plan.
- Identify, produce and implement BADIL’s advocacy interventions with the UN system, states, international solidarity movement and organizations. This includes the preparation of statements, reports and other outreach, advocacy and promotional tools.
- Serve as an advocacy resource person for BADIL, in particular being responsible for responding to written information requests made to BADIL.
- Outreach, management and coordination of the International Mobilization Course, conferences, panels and advocacy campaigns.
- Coordinate, liaise and communicate with international advocacy and solidarity partners, organizations, movements and activists.
- Enhance and expand BADIL’s international partners, including individual and institutional donors.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in international relations, political science or other relevant studies. Bachelor degree or higher in law, especially in human rights law, is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in analytical, research and/or advocacy, international networking;
- Excellent English speaking, writing and editing skills: ability to write clear, concise and well-structured statements, reports and other publications on human rights issues in English;
- Familiarity with the UN mechanisms and the work of international solidarity movements and networks.
- Knowledge of the Question of Palestine and current international affairs; good understanding of international policies towards Palestine and the Arab Region in general;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills;
- Working knowledge of Arabic preferred but not required;
- Good organizational skills;
- Ability to work under pressure, in an intercultural environment and as part of a team;
