Job Description
Position Title: Interns/Coordinators
Duty Station: Ramallah
PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
Mercy Corps (MC) is a non-profit, non-aligned, secular non-governmental (NGO) humanitarian relief and development organization, registered in the United States and Scotland with offices in more than 40 countries around the world, including the West Bank and Gaza, where the organization has been active in implementing relief and development programs for nearly a decade.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mercy Corps’ “Arab Developer Network Initiative” (ADNI) portfolio of programs aims to support the expansion of ICT technology enabled industry in the West Bank and Gaza through a variety of interventions including formal ICT sector development, capacity building and market linkage support to existing ICT companies, entrepreneurship and technical training, education and workforce development. The Intern will provide support, oversight, technical consultation and expertise all Mercy Corps ICT programs and program teams in the West Bank. The Intern will help select tech participants for ICT trainings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
-Provide overall support to ICT programs in West Bank
-Support the launch of new ICT program initiatives in Palestine
-Help select participants for Mercy Corps organized trainings.
-Monitor trainings and provide all support needed.
-Works cooperatively with Mercy Corps staff, local community, partner NGOs, and other parties.
-Assists in the design and organization of a large range of trainings.
-Regularly conducts field visits to the project sites to monitor ongoing work.
-Leads in planning baseline as well as end line data collection in line with the established evaluation strategy.
-Regularly reports on project implementation/ progress
-Liaises and coordinates with other Mercy Corps departments as needed.
-Performance of work beyond normal office hours as required, without additional compensation.
-Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
-Other duties as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: N/A
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Program Manager
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
-University degree IT, computer engineering or relevant field preferred
-Experience working in ICT technologies, preferably developing applications, softer testing and working on iOS and Android
-Proven skills in strategic planning, assessment, training organization, monitoring and evaluation.
-Excellent communication, organizational and prioritization skills and ability to multi-task and support and/or fill multiple positions at one time.
-Demonstrate attention to detail and ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work both independently and cooperatively with the team members.
-Knowledge of Google Technologies
-Understanding of the social, political, and economic context of Palestinian territories,
