Internship in Campaigning and Social Media based in Occupied

Job Description

Internship in Campaigning and Social Media based in Occupied Palestinian Territory
The Emergency Water Sanitation and Hygiene (EWASH) group, established in 2002, brings together 30 leading humanitarian organizations working in the water and sanitation sector in the oPt, including local and international NGOs as well as UN agencies. The Advocacy Task Force (ATF) was formed in 2009 to coordinate messaging among EWASH members and conduct strategic advocacy at the local, national and international levels.  EWASH launched the Thirsting for Justice Campaign (www.thirstingforjustice.org) in March 2010 with the aim of mobilizing European citizens in support of Palestinian rights to water and sanitation and build momentum for decisive government action to end violations. The campaign issued international calls to supporters for a photo petition, a twitter outreach action and a flash mob. Locally, the campaign has an active pool of campaign youth ambassadors, based in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, who have helped disseminate the messages of the campaign through media (articles, videos, exhibition, and stunts). EWASH ATF is looking to recruit an intern with experience in campaigning at the grassroots level to help develop the Thirsting for Justice Campaign in Europe and to improve visibility of the problems Palestinians face with its target audience. A key aspect of the internship is to maintain the campaign’s social media presence, the development of coalitions and support in the development of campaign actions for popular mobilization.

-Build international endorsements for the campaign and establish long-term partnerships with human rights activists
-Develop campaign actions for mass popular engagement and support mobilization efforts
-Maintain the campaign’s online presence, particularly in social media
-Develop advocacy products associated with the campaign (text + multimedia)

The intern will also have the opportunity to be exposed to other aspects of ATF’s advocacy work and field experience in Palestinian communities where EWASH is present.
