Interpreter/Cultural Advisor

 

The Operation PROTEUS office of the Department of National Defence of Canada in Jerusalem is seeking to hire a full-time Interpreter/Cultural Advisor. The Interpreter/Cultural Advisor must provide services for OP PROTEUS members as well as translating documents, training materials, information materials and other material.

Essential Qualifications
-Relevant Educational Background
-Bachelor Degree in English Language (translator)
-Valid Class C drivers License
-Be a native speaker of the Arabic language
-Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
-Managing the English language on translation and interpretation level on a daily basis.
-Organizational and analytical skills, initiative
-Flexibility and maturity of judgment
-Willing to travel within the West Bank & Jordan.
-Ability to operate Windows applications (MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint, etc.), Internet and e-mail.
-At least two years’ experience in Interpretation/Translation
-Working knowledge (minimum intermediate level) in Hebrew (verbal and written) Adaptability and flexibility

Desirable Qualification
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations
-Ability to understand rules, regulations and standards and to implement guidelines and instructions
-Ability to work under pressure and beyond official working hours Conditions of Employment
-Ability to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance
-Legal ability to work in Israel
-Ability to work overtime, sometimes on short notice
