Job Description
BACKGROUND
EcoPalestine is the Palestinian affiliate of EcoPeace Middle East, a unique organization that brings together Jordanian, Palestinian, and Israeli environmentalists. Our primary objective is the promotion of cooperative efforts to protect our shared environmental heritage. In so doing, we seek to advance both sustainable regional development and the creation of necessary conditions for lasting peace in our region. EcoPeace has offices in Amman, Ramallah, and Tel-Aviv.
Job Purpose
The investment officer will lead efforts of mapping and investment case development in Ramallah Office to advance on the National Jordan Valley project plans within the business community; establish a business advisory forum; develop investor events and meetings, and work closely with the project teams to ensure that project plans and objectives are completed on time and within budget on the national and regional level.
Report to: Programme Manager and Country Director in Ramallah Office
Working Closely with: Regional Investment Manager, based in Amman Office, and the regional investment teams in Tel Aviv and Amman Office
Duration: One year with possibility of extension
Work Station: Position based in EcoPalestine / EcoPeace ME – Ramallah Office
Job Specific Responsibilities
- Investment Track:
EcoPalestine/EcoPeace Middle East is currently running the Good Water Neighbors phase IV program. As part of its program commitments, the institution aims at promoting private sector interests and investment potentials in the Palestinian Jordan Valley. To be able to achieve the aforementioned objectives, there needs to be substantial financial investments in environmental sustainable projects. More specifically the track includes identification of five Palestinian projects that would potentially succeed in investment and continue to realization. Considering the focus of the program on climate change adaptation and mitigation, the identified projects are in the fields of Agri-tech, Eco-tourism, Renewable Energy, Water and Wastewater.
- Engaging the impact investment Community to increase interest in the region;
- Invite impact investment leaders and trendsetters delegations to tour the region and to learn firsthand from entrepreneurs about the projects;
- Attend and present the region and our projects in impact investment events;
- Map out the specific water, energy, environmental and Agri-tech investment opportunities in the Jordan Valley;
- Identify and create national business cases involving technology and/or marketing, based on the development of initial diagnostic reports and selection criteria;
- Lead the underwriting and due diligence activities for the potential business cases;
- Build and maintain strong relationships with private businesses, investors, stakeholders and government officials to further develop specific investment opportunities;
- Advancing the regional interdependencies of the Water-Energy Nexus;
- Guide and support entrepreneurs in presentation and business skills and connect entrepreneurs with investors.
Green Entrepreneurs Track:
EcoPeace Middle East is leading a cross-border project promoting green entrepreneurship in the MENA region. Targeting young adults, water professionals, and entrepreneurs aged 21-35 with knowledge or interest in business, water, social entrepreneurship, or green-tech, the program will create a cohort of 45 young Israeli, Jordanian, and Palestinian entrepreneurs, 15 from each country, who will advance innovative green enterprises that generate significant social and economic value. The program will expose participants to the possibilities and benefits of social entrepreneurship and encourage the development of innovative solutions to environmental challenges through various capacity building activities.
Develop and implement the new programs for young professionals on Green Social Entrepreneurship Track, including:
- Mapping of target groups and relevant educational institutions
- Developing and implementing trainings and lectures program
- Developing selection criteria and leading selection process
- Networking with relevant partner organizations
- Mutual cooperation between officers on regional programming.
General Responsibilities include:

Plan, implement and facilitate investor events, roundtables and site visits…etc as relevant to component.

Work closely with management and regional project teams to achieve programme objectives in-line with the overall organizational and programme strategy.

Lead the selection and hiring of external consultants where needed.

Work closely with the Programme Manager by forecasting requirements, scheduling expenditures, analysing variances, initiating corrective actions.

Coordinate and work closely with the Financial & Operation Department specially in procurements, bids processes, and budgeting

Prepare and submit reports as required by management and MEAL team.

Representing EcoPeace and its work at conferences and events

Participate in developing networking, cooperation and effective communications mechanisms with the main stakeholders in business, and entrepreneurships

Implement any other tasks as requested by the Country Director or the direct supervisor

- A degree in business administration, economics, finance complemented by a master’s degree with an emphasis on finance, economics preferred
- At least 5 years’ experience with a proven record of accomplishment in sourcing, structuring and closing investments deals / start-ups.
- Knowledge of relevant industry sector trends.
- Extensive Experience in business and client relationship development
- Ability to interact directly and independently with the senior management of potential investors, financial and technical partners as well as senior government officials.
- Strong financial and credit skills; demonstrated ability to structure a variety of financial instruments.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
