IT Application Support Engineer

Job Description
 

We are looking for a dedicated IT application support engineer to ensure that our customers' technical queries are resolved in a timeous and satisfactory manner. As an application support engineer, you will meet with clients to determine the nature of the problem, diagnose software issues, provide effective assistance, and maintain strong customer relationships. You will also be required to install new software applications and train clients on proper application use.

Responsibilities

  • Research, diagnose, troubleshoot and identifying solutions to resolve customers' technical issues.
  • Taking ownership of customer issues reported and seeing problems through to resolution
  • Ask customers targeted questions to quickly understand the root of the problem.
  • Document solutions, troubleshooting procedures, and knowledge through the CRM system. 
  • Following standard procedures for proper escalation of unresolved issues to the appropriate internal teams
  • Prioritize and manage several open issues at one time
  • Customer Oriented.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven work experience as a Technical Support Engineer, Desktop Support Engineer, IT Help Desk Technician or similar role.
  • Intermediate knowledge with SQL. Practical experience with Oracle is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge in configuring Windows servers. Practical experience in configuring LDAP, SMTP, and Windows Services is an advantage.
  • Intermediate knowledge in working with Linux Bash shell. Practical experience in editing/searching text data files in a Linux shell environment is an advantage.
  • Any Linux scripting experience is considered a big advantage.
  • Fluency in English is a must. All customer interactions are in English.
  • High level of troubleshooting and communication skills.
