L&D Specialist Mental Health
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
Development, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of the Mental Health Capacity Building Activities according to MSF policies, standards and values.
Supporting in organizing and implementing the Internship Program and others Capacity-Building Activities for organizations working in mental health and/or assisting vulnerable populations in the West Bank.
Accountabilities:
Nablus Project
- Defines procedures and ensures the implementation, monitoring, maintenance and correct functioning of the L&D tools, processes and plans of the Operational Strategy of the project.
- Manages L&D activities in support of and in close collaboration with the field supervisors, managers &/or field coordinators responsible for Mental Health Activities.
- In close collaboration with the Mental Health Activity Manager (MHAM), Mental Health Supervisor (MHS) and HR Manager, plans & supports L&D aspects of the Operational Strategy of the project.
- Ensures the proper documentation, filing and the compilation of records of Internship Program and learning programs and regularly shares them with the hierarchical and with the functional managers.
Internship Program (MSF-France & Palestinian Union of Social Workers and Psychologists):
- Create, update, and deliver the internship curriculum, with support from the Mental Health Activity Manager (MHAM) and other MSF staff as required.
- Participate in the recruitment and induction of the interns with the Mental Health Activity Manager (MHAM) and the Mental Health Supervisor (MH Supervisor).
- Provide weekly individual and group supervision to each intern and coordinate live supervision with MSF Psychologists during the practical part of the internship program.
- Prepare and collect pre-post-test evaluations and feedback from interns, and report problems, successes, and constraints to the line manager in a timely manner.
- Organize and coordinate administrative and logistics tasks such as weekly schedules, attendance follow up, printing and distribution of learning materials, equipment requests, etc.
- Maintain active collaboration and communication with the Palestanina Union of Social Workers and Psychologists (PUSWP) Focal Point including quarterly meetings.
- Collaborate with Mental Health Activity Manager (MHAM) and HR Manager to ensure improvement and capitalization of the tools used for the Internship, as well as proper archiving.
- Produce monthly activity reports.
Other external capacity-building activities:
- With support from the Mental Health Activcity Manager (MHAM), assess capacity-building needs and requests (through interviews, questionnaires, observation at work, group supervision, etc.), determine target groups, appropriate methods and content, and prepare a schedule of activities.
- In collaboration with the Mental Health Activcity Manager (MHAM), check existing MoH protocols and guidelines relating to mental health.
- Customize or Create training materials with support and validation by the Mental Health Activcity Manager (MHAM), Medical Coordinator (MedCo) and Human Resources Coordinator (HRCo) and keep them available for future use.
- Create a specific training toolkit based on the MoH priority policy, with support and validation by the Mental Health Activity Manager (MHAM), Medical Coordinator (MedCo), Human Resources Coordinator (HRCo) and Referents.
- Deliver trainings, workshops and other capacity-building activities him/herself, with support from other MSF staff as required.
- Prepare and collect pre-post-test evaluations and feedback from participants, and report problems, success and constraints to the line manager.
- Organize and coordinate logistics and administrative tasks such as distribution materials, equipment requests, transport arrangements, obtaining the material approval of other partners, etc.
- Produce monthly activity reports.

Education
Essential: Master’s degree in Psychology
Desirable: Teaching or Education-related diploma
Experience
Essential: 2 years’ work experience as a psychologist
Desirable: 1-year work experience in a similar position / previous experience with MSF or other NGOs is an asset
Languages
Essential: excellent command of both Arabic and English as are the mission languages
