A Child’s Cup Full Association is a non-profit women’s economic empowerment that aims to train and employ refugee and low-income women artisans in the West Bank to produce handmade, educational children’s materials for the global marketplace. According to the ILO, unemployment rates in the West Bank have increased over the past several years with rates as high as 63% for young women. Our mission is to create lasting economic opportunities for refugee and low-income communities in Palestine by creating jobs for women artisans to support themselves, their families, and their communities. Our artisan center is inZababdeh, located in the northern West Bank, where poverty rates are disproportionally higher compared to the rest of the region.
Summary: looking to hiring a Learning Material Design Expert/ Toy Designer. This individual will be working with Educational Expert and the women artisans in the center to produce a line of educational materials for Early Years to 4 grade students.
Responsibilities:
The Learning Material Design Expert should be able professionally to conduct the following:
Develop the concepts/Ideas of educational expert material that cover all areas of development for early years to fourth grade into educational aids/toys.
Produce/perform a minimum of 30 new child friendly educational aids/toys designs with the 16 artisan women during the training sessions.
Work closely with the Education Expert in developing the different learning material concepts using fabric and leather.
Responsible for carrying out tasks ranging from learning concept research, product sample, design and development to matching production of each product with artisan skills.
Develop guide manual that include the production steps of each toy which also should explain the production line stages in a simple and clear manner.
Carry out any additional duties as needed by the Executive Director and Program Manager.
Role: The candidate must be a designer at heart that is able to produce physical prototype, iterate often, and has working knowledge in sewing, and fabrics and iterate. He/she has the skills to make an assessment in production efficiency and drive the production process forwards and meet the CCF high quality standards. Some tasks will be carried on in CCF center at Zababdeh village.
Qualifications:
Preferable, BA degree at industrial design, graphic design, architect, clothes design or any related field.
Creative and passionate about children’s learning.Knowledge abouthands-on-learning approach and the different materials needed for such classroom experience in the areas of science, geography, math, literacy and others.
At least 3 years’ experience in product design and manufacturing process. Also, must possess an artistic sense of color attractive to children and has drawing skills for toy concept illustration, and able to produce physical prototype with several iterations.
The ability to work within groups and meet deadlines as well as work with different virtual and long distance settings.
Excellent outstanding communication skills, strong time management, and multi-tasking.
Working knowledge with children’s different learning styles and has the skills to do research on children’s learning materials/tools as will as willingness to learn from others.
Duration:
This consultancy post is a part-time one, 24 hours/ week (6 hours per day 4 days a week) for a period of 6 months starting from January 15, 2018.
