Legal Advisor

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) re-established its presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territories in January 2009 and developing a legal programme concentrating on providing legal assistance, particularly related to housing, land and property.
The ICLA programme requires a Legal Researcher will be responsible for overseeing the production of an English Legal Manual on the Israeli Legal System.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide good legal advice and analysis on the Israeli legal system and in particular, provide advice on rights to housing, and land.
• Identify training needs of NGOs engaged in legal assistance.
• Organizing legal and protection training ;
• Undertake field visits as required;
• Conduct legal research as required;
• Carry out other relevant duties as requested by supervisor.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• Qualified Lawyer with minimum 2 years experience practising law in Israel ( preferably housing, land and property issues);
• Experience with legal trainings;
• Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision;
• Excellent command of English, Arabic and Hebrew both written and orally
• Experience of working with non-governmental organizations is an advantage;

Commencement: As soon as possible
Contract period: 12 months, with possible extension
Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions pay commessurate with experience and benefits provided.
