Legal Aid Center Senior Lawyer

NRC is implementing an Information, Counseling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) programme for refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and those facing displacement in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (oPt).
The programme’s aim is to enhance access to justice for Palestinians through the provision of legal assistance, capacity building of legal professionals and legal advocacy in the oPt.
NRC is establishing a legal assistance programme in Gaza and will open a legal aid center in Gaza to provide free legal assistance to the community. NRC requires a Senior Lawyer to play a lead role in the establishment and operation of the Legal Aid Center.

TASKS INCLUDE:
-Responsible for the overall running of the Legal Aid Center including staffing, budget and reporting;
-Provide high quality legal advice in particular, on rights to housing, land and legal identity;
-Prepare monthly reports for the Project Co-ordinator and donors as required;
-Undertake field visits and conduct legal research as required.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
-Senior lawyer with minimum of 8 years experience practising law;
-Expertise in housing, land and property law issues desirable;
-Management experience desirable;
-Excellent command of English and Arabic both written and orally.
