A European Union mission work to support the Palestinian Authoritiy in Establishing sustainable and effective policing arrangements is advertising the following vacancy at the Head Quater office in Ramallah:
Legal Assistant for the Rule of Law Section (3)
Job Description
Under the supervision of the Head of Rule of Law
1-Assist experts from the Rule of Law Section in the fulfilment of their duties, with a focus on the Palestinian legal framework
2-Conduct research and provide legal advice on all issues related to the Palestinian legal framework and other legal systems in the Arab world
3-Prepare memoranda, summaries, legal opinions and other legal texts.
4-Assist in reviewing and analyzing legal documents, including draft law, judicial decisions or Standard Operating Procedures
5-Facilitate communication and interaction between (non-English-speaking) counterparts in Palestinian judicial institutions and EUPOL COPPS experts
6-Perform any other work-related duties as required
Job requirements:
-A Law Degree at least at bachelor level (or equivalent) attested by a diploma
-Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in a law related field in Palestine
-Demonstrable analytical capacities
-Excellent knowledge of the applicable law in Palestine (with special emphasis on criminal law)
-Excellent spoken and written command of English, including high-level drafting and basic translating/interpreting skills
-Excellent spoken and written command of Arabic; working knowledge of Hebrew would be an advantage
-Sound knowledge of the Criminal Justice System in Palestine
-Excellent computer skills in particular with MS Word
-Ability to take initiative and careful attention to details
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations as a team member in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment
-Good interpersonal and communication skills
-Solid work ethics; punctuality; commitment to quality; careful attention to detail and nuance; ability to perform under stress; willingness to work flexible hours; precision; good multi-tasking and organisational skills
-Ability to prioritize and manage a high workload on occasions
