Legal Research Coordinator - Temporary
The Legal Research Coordinator position is to coordinate and undertake research and analysis related to international humanitarian and human rights law and relevant domestic Israeli law and to interpret domestic legal developments in light of international legal norms, in response to the needs of the ICLA programme, and in cooperation with advocacy in line with Responsibility, Accountability, Contribution and Information (RACI) framework.
The following is a brief description of the role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Legal Research Coordinator position is to coordinate and undertake research and analysis related to international humanitarian and human rights law. Below is a summary of the responsibilities:
- Monitor legal developments and trends in domestic and international law relevant to the working of the ICLA programme
- identifying cases, themes and areas that require legal research;
- drafting legal alerts, memos, briefs, opinions, factsheets, reports, case summaries and information materials for internal and external communication;
- maintaining up to date records of all research conducted by ICLA.
- Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist and promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities
- Function as the authoritative source of interpretation of domestic and international law
- Organize trainings for the ICLA team, relevant partners and beneficiaries
- Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders, including the Protection Cluster Coordinator (OHCHR) on key issues of interest.
- Act as a focal point for assessing requests for support by ICLA partners, national NGOs and international organizations on legal expertise of international law and remedies for Palestinians facing breaches

Skills & Experience:
Competencies are important in order for the employee and the organisation to deliver desired results. These are skills, knowledge and experience that are important for effective performance:
- University degree in the field of Israeli domestic law (Master’s degree is an advantage) and extensive knowledge of international humanitarian and human rights law
- Expertise in housing, land and property law and freedom of movement
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work or post-graduate experience
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Proficiency in English Arabic and Hebrew
- Very good computer skills

What do we offer:
Duty Station: Jerusalem
Type of Contract: Temporary (Maternity Cover) 7 months
Salary: Grade 7 based upon the NRC grading Scale
