The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) re-established its presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territoriesin January 2009 and developing a legal programme concentrating on providing legal assistance,particularly related to housing, land and property.
The ICLA programme requires a Legal Researcher will be responsible for overseeing the production of an English Legal Manual on the Israeli Legal System.
II. Functions/Key Results Expected
In co-operation with the ICLA Project Manager, the legal expert will draft an English legal manual on the Israeli legal system, specifically a guide to housing, land and property law referencing both applicable local and international law.
III. Skills and Qualifications Required.
• Qualified Lawyer with minimum 10 years experience practising law in Israel and an expert on housing, land and property law.
• Understanding of International Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law;
• Experience with legal research;
• Excellent command of English both written and orally
Commencement: As soon as possible
Contract period: 2 months
Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions pay commessurate with experience.
