LEGAL RESEARCHER

Seyada II for Empowering the Palestinian Judicial System -is an EU funded project designed to empower the Palestinian Judicial system. The objectives of the project are aimed at assisting in strengthening the institutional building of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), the Palestine Judicial Institute, the Constitutional Court and the Palestinian Bar Association. The project also aims to assist in the set up of legal Aid system.
Seyada II is seeking to recruit a full time candidate for the position of

The candidate shall be contracted by the Seyada II project to work in the Technical Office at
SJC in Ramallah. The legal researcher serves as a seconded employee during the lifetime of the project, till July 2012. He/she is expected to become a full time employee at the SJC upon the termination of the project lifetime.
The legal researcher is responsible for undertaking the followings tasks:
1- Conduct legal studies and prepare research papers on different topics related to the work of the Technical Office at the SJC.
2- Analyse and summarise court decisions in criminal and civil cases.
3- Support the Technical Office in auditing and issuing the judicial magazine.
4- Assist the SJC in its effort to establish legal and judicial databases.
5- Cooperate and coordinate all activities related to Seyada II project with the Team Leader.
6- Provide assistance to Seyada’s key expert on the component relevant to the SJC.
7- Report to Seyada II project and provides time-sheets.
Job Qualifications:
1- Masters in laws from a recognised university.
2-Excellent legal research skills.
3- Minimum three years of experience as a legal researcher, preferably in the justice sector.
4- Very good knowledge in computer applications.
5- Very good command of English is an asset.
