Organization

Sustainable Change for Development (SCD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 2019 by a group of Palestinian civil society activists, who are committed to paving the road to achieve democracy, development, and peace for the people of Palestine.

SCD will function through a series of interventions aimed at establishing mutual understanding, concerns, and co-working to obtain a sustainable solution for a productive and healthy environment.

SCD strives to promote and enhance democratic values; support state-building readiness; engage in psychosocial and environmental interventions; build the Palestinian society's capacity; and empower youth, women, and civil peace culture. In addition, it seeks to act as a catalyst for non-violent communication among Palestinian society stakeholders.

Mission

SCD encourages participation in decision-making processes, where it creates opportunities for youth and women, by utilizing the expertise of Palestinian practitioners, scholars, experts, and academics. Consequently, they can contribute to promoting and advancing key sectors in Palestine such as governance, planning, environment, and economy, in addition to empowering youth and women while envisioning an independent, peaceful, environmentally clean, democratic, secular, and prosperous State of Palestine.

Social and psychological workers, youth, women, and families.

Project

Given the current heightened tensions experienced in the northern regions of Westbank, it is important to address this situation by focusing on the psychological well-being of thepopulation. A sincere effort must be made to elevate awareness regarding the significance of mental health and overall wellness.

SCD is dedicated to boosting the skill sets of social workers and psychologists through comprehensive training programs. This project aims to elevate the standard of their services, equipping them to offer substantial support to those they serve. Through these enhanced capacities, a positive impact can be made on the lives of beneficiaries, fostering resilience during this demanding period.

The project cooperates with the GIZ Civil Peace Service program “Psychosocial support and strengthening of peace discourses in protracted conflicts”.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of project activities
  • Technical advice in the respective fields of Mental Health and Psychosocial Wellbeing (MHPSS) and Communication
  • Content development in the fields of psychosocial support, mental health, and civil peace.
  • Supporting interns’ and volunteers’ work and learning processes
  • Close cooperation with the CPS development adviser of GIZ.
  • Process-oriented evaluation and documentation of project outcomes and results, participation in professional exchange and development with peace experts within the GIZ CPS program
  • Preparation of follow-up measures, including but not limited to, drafting a project proposal in cooperation with the International Peace Expert of the CPS in GIZ.
  • The Local Peace Expert according to the CPS GIZ requirements should report to the Director of SCD

Job Requirements

Tasks to perform

A) Technical Tasks

  • Expert advice for coordinating projects of MHPSS and Communication.
  • Conducting research on relevant subjects and needs.
  • Content-related design of activities.
  • Specific workshop design for target groups.
  • Preparing and coordinating workshops and trainings.
  • Supporting the strategic development of the organization.
  • Developing information material.
  • Developing a monitoring system and a method for monitoring and evaluating the outcomes.

    B) Assistant Administrative Tasks

  • Offer support in procurement including the preparation of Terms of references for tender procedures.
  • Prepare the needed narrative and technical reports for the projects.
  • Assist in updating the project inventory.

Required Qualifications, skills, and professional experience

  • Minimum BA in Psychology, Social Sciences, Business Administration, English language, Public Relations, and communication or any other related fields.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in a comparable position is required.
  • Theoretical and/or practical knowledge of MHPSS, conflict transformation, and social participation.
  • Vast experience in project cycle management, facilitating participative processes, as well as designing, planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Detailed knowledge of ethical issues related to project management: gender equality, leave no one behind, do no harm principles, informed consent, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Fluent knowledge and competency in oral and written English and Arabic.
  • High level of communication and presentation skills.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in computer skills and MS Office.
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
