In the occupied Palestinian Territory Save the Children implements large scale programs in the field of protection, education, food security, health and child rights governance. Save the Children’s ‘dual mandate’ means that humanitarian and emergency responses represent a core part of every program.
Save the Children is currently implementing the European Funded “Promoting Healthy Youth Development Project” in partnership with Youth Development Department “YDD”, Palestinian Counseling Center “PCC” and Bidna Capoeira “BC”
Save the Children is currently seeking “Innovative Advocacy training services (local trainer/ consultant) to implement the following tasks in close coordination with Save the Children and relevant parties
Save the Children project of Promoting Healthy Youth Development in Jerusalem
Innovative Advocacy Training
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide East Jerusalem youth with skills and support to deliver on their chosen campaign for social change. Each of the three youth groups have agreed on a social change campaign they wish to pursue. They developed an advocacy strategy and agreed on an activity plan which includes lobby meetings with decision-makers and popular mobilization. The consultancy will provide youth with the adequate skills to effectively deliver on the campaign activities using innovative communication approaches.
The youth need to be able to communicate and engage with a variety of audiences. Therefore the messaging they use needs to be sensitive to the profile of the target audiences and delivered in a way that engages them in support of the agreed change objectives.
-We wish the consultant to devise a training that covers skills such as:
-Video scripting and editing;
-speaking/presentation skills (to better talk to the media and lobby targets);
-pitching stories to media;
-creative writing (for publishing media articles, writing press releases),
-social media skills
-etc
In addition to providing skills training to the youth, the consultant will work closely with them to apply the skills learnt to the activities of the campaign.
The consultant is requested to work with three youth leaders groups separately
The consultant is expected to arrive at this goal in three stages:
1-To consult with the youth on their skill needs, their planned campaigns and initiatives and design a refined training schedule based on that
2-Deliver the skills training that is both practical and engaging to two youth leaders groups 30 participant in each group (4 days for each group ) totaling of 60 participants and 8 training days .
3-Work with the youth to refine the application of acquired skills to the existing action plan
4-Deliver coaching services to three youth leaders groups 2 coaching days per group totaling of 6 coaching days for around 60 youth participants.
Main outcomes of the consultancy:
1 –Youth Leaders agree on the set of innovative advocacy tools that they will use in their campaigns
2 –Youth Leaders have the needed skills and knowledge to use different innovative approaches to effectively communicate, engage and mobilize multiple target audiences for the campaign
3-Youth Leaders are supported in applying the innovative advocacy tools throughout the implementation of the campaign.
Deliverables:
-Application: work plan including methodology, schedule, duration, and suggested materials to be used (accompanied by CV and covering letter)
-Detailed schedule for the consultancy developed in consultation with youth and Save the Children/Community Organisations’ Coordinators in advance of the sessions
-Innovative advocacy tools action plan document
-Final consultancy report with recommendations
