Logistics Assistant - Gaza Improve Livelihoods and Enhance Economic Development (ILEED) Program
Location: Gaza
Reports to: ILEED Procurement, Grants and Compliance Manager
Global Communities is seeking a Logistics Assistant for the USAID Improve Livelihoods and Enhance Economic Development (ILEED). This five-year, up to $60 million program will focus on promoting resilient livelihoods in Gaza and give households the tools they need to cope with recurrent crises. ILEED will engage both the demand and supply actors within the conflict affected market system. Programs and activities will support the production of and access to basic products and services that community entrepreneurs are already engaged in producing and providing, as well as encourage community entrepreneurs to fill critical service gaps with localized solutions. ILEED will also work to increasing access to resources and basic commodities to support community development and resilience.
Responsibilities
The ILEED Logistics Assistant will support the ILEED Grants, Procurement and Compliance Manager (GPCM) in terms of fleet, assets management, inventory and equipment maintenance. S/He will support the final aim to guarantee an efficient and effective operational support to ILEED project.
Specific Responsibilities include the following
Objective 1: Fleet Management/Driving
Tasks:
- Evaluate the transportation needs of ILEED and coordinate transportation requests
- Communicate with the supervisor regarding accidents or incidents to ensure necessary information and reporting is provided, and to resolve any possible disputes if any.
- Ensure all ILEED vehicles are following standard safety procedures as per the contract with the supplier/s.
- Follow-up on rented vehicles maintenance and taxi company cars operability.
Objective 2: Equipment and Inventory
Tasks:
- Maintain and Update ILEED equipment list according to GC standards.
- Undertake inventory checks and update ILEED inventory list regularly and on a monthly basis
- Keep in custody and maintain IT, Hardware, Software, Printers, UPS and communication equipment of ILEED project.
- Provide ILEED staff with the required equipment and receiving all returned items and maintain properly.
- Transport ILEED’s personnel and goods within Gaza Strip and to the project sites, according to the movement planning of the project.
Objective 3: Office Management
Tasks:
- Support GC operations and ILEED (GPCM) to identify the suitable building for ILEED premises as required.
- Working closely with the Gaza Office Operations and under the supervision of (GPCM) to comply and ensure Gaza office is a safe working environment and apply all safety SOPs.
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to ensure maintenance and repairs are undertaken for ILEED projects.
- Assess the working environment and make suggestions to (GPCM) for improvements to the office facility.
- In close coordination with the GC operations, and under the (GPCM) guidance maintain the Hibernation kit, First Aid Kit and fire extinguishers.
- In close coordination with GC operations and under the (GPCM) provide the needed support. oversee and maintain logistics and repairs required for the office and guesthouse.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- B.A degree in logistics, business administration, accounting or any related field
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in similar position for a local or an international organization.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of relevant local laws, regulations and policies is required.
- Evidence of effective communication skills, both oral and written; strong interpersonal and analytical skills. Experience with generally accepted accounting practices and principles.
- Computer/word processing and standard office software skills.
- Languages: Full Professional Proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic are required
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, accept responsibility, and be extremely discrete with sensitive information.
- Must also be able to foster supportive working relationship among all staff.
- Strong computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office package, especially Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word and other database applications.
- Highly organized individual able to pay close attention to detail.
Ability to work as a member of a team of professionals in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
