Logistics Manager

Médecins du Monde (MDM) France is an International Medical Organization, which has been present in the Palestinian Territories since 1995. It operates in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank through offices located in Jerusalem, Gaza and Nablus.

 

MDM is currently looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of :

Logistics Manager, Gaza Base (1 Position)

Starting date: as soon as possible

Type:  Full Time Contract

Duration: 1 Year with possibility of extension

Tasks and responsibilities

Logistics

• Monitor the respect of the rules governing the use of vehicles and organize vehicle maintenance and follow-up
• Supervise the schedule of all drivers and the movements of the team to streamline the use of vehicles.
• Supervisor and Follow the organization of fleet management t through Taxis Company when needed and reconcile the movements with the company at the end of each month.
• Communicate with other bases in the field and organize back-to-back movements.

Procurement, Supply and stock

• Analyze the local market and keep an updated database of local suppliers corresponding to MDM needs and eligibility criteria (quality, price, service, and ethics), send the updated supplier list with the monthly report.
• Plan purchases according to the activities, office and Guest houses needs. Obtain quotations, prepare purchase orders, and negotiate price lists and contracts with suppliers according to the applicable procurement procedures.
• Pay the suppliers against services and all types of supplies making sure all needed justifications are provided in accordance with the financial procedure in force.

Equipment and premises

• Ensure each MDM property has an identification card in accordance with MDM procedures.
• Ensure the maintenance of all MDM equipment and properties (Offices, Guesthouses, vehicles, computers, printers, communication tools etc)
• Ensure that all staff in Gaza is properly trained about the use of MDM equipment specifically entrusted to them and of all MDM general equipment available in the office (shared printers, copier machine etc)

Programs

• Participate in the support of the implementation of daily programs activities in coordination with the team.
• Manage the logistic components of all program activities and events such as training sessions, workshops, advocacy and field visits.
• Support the organization of events related to advocacy such as diplomatic and lobby trips.
• In collaboration with the programs and project Managers, ensure proper reception and storage of any medical and non-medical supplies purchased and obtain proper consumption follow up.

Security

• With the Field Coordinator, contribute to the regular analysis of the security context and conditions in Palestine and in particular in Gaza governorate.
• Follow up on the daily evolution of the context and keep the Field Coordinator informed.
• Upon request, participate in the update and revise security plan, guidelines and tools.
• Contribute to security and context briefing for National and international staff including HQ visitors with the support of the Field coordinator.

Requirements

• University degree required,  Degree in Security or Logistics management will be asset.
• 3 years of experience in the logistic field .
• Good knowledge of the context and routes in Palestine.
• Good knowledge in contingency planning and management.
• Good Knowledge in Project Management is an asset
• Arabic language and good English level are mandatory in reporting, writing and verbal communications.
• Experience working with NGOs is necessary.
• Ability to cope with difficult security context.
• Good coordination and communication skills are a key factor to this position.
• Excellence in organizing, planning and prioritizing tasks.
• Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses and in proposing shared solutions for the continuous improvement of providing quality services.
• Strong commitment to learning new skills and willingness to be accompanied toward the achievement of new competencies.
• Ability to work with a team as well as to work independently.
• Clear commitment to the project thematic.
• Proficiency in Word and with high advance and professional knowledge of Excel.
