Maintenance Technician – GS-06

The Representative Office of Canada to the Palestinian Authority is pleased to announce a job opportunity for a Maintenance Technician with an attractive compensation and benefits package. The competition is open to all persons who live in the West Bank or in Israel and who are legally entitled to work in the West Bank or at the Representative Office of Canada.

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will report to a Common Service Officer and/or Assistant. Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

-Undertaking repairs or maintenance on crown assets, leased and crown equipment, in accordance with safety and security regulations, standards and procedures which includes attending to emergency problems and long term maintenance projects;
-Performing troubleshooting, minor maintenance, and small repairs related to emergency or non-emergency work orders from staff.
-Assisting with maintenance projects in several functional areas such as masonry, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, water sewage, refrigeration and boiler operations;
-Assisting with lifecycle maintenance and repair planning for the refurbishments of the accommodations during the summer rotation period, including providing input on building conditions, local conditions and/or history of property or building;


Qualifications and Requirements:

The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

-Graduation from a recognized secondary school and a trade certificate or diploma from a recognized technical institution.
-Excellent proficiency in both written and spoken English and Arabic;
-At least three (3) years of recent (within the past five (5) years) and relevant experience in a similar position for a corporate organization, foreign mission, other government office or international organization;
-Experience providing client service and working with external service providers.
-Basic knowledge of building maintenance concepts and procedures (electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, residential appliances, life safety, generators, water supply, fire suppression).
-Basic knowledge of maintenance management concepts and procedures (maintaining supplies and inventories, maintaining service records, preventative maintenance schedules).


Starting Salary:
55.67 ILS / hour, based on a 40 hour work week, plus paid overtime and other attractive benefits.
