Consultant; Market Assessment for Technical and Vocational Training Project

 

Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) OPt., Gaza Office works in the fields of Shelter, Education and Information Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA). NRC is interested in expanding its education work within Gaza to include packages to deliver Technical, Vocational Education and Training to vulnerable youth, (aged 15-20), specifically linked to market-viable skills. In order to achieve this NRC would like to carry out a market survey of potential fields in the Gaza markets. This includes, but is not limited to, construction, media, appliance repair and food production.

Key Deliverables:
1)Using an agreed market assessment framework assess the viability of future vocational training in construction, media, appliance repair and food production industries.
2)Map key stakeholders including current TVET providers, businesses and institutions.
3)Delineate current gaps in TVET provision with a focus on youth excluded from formal education, youth with disabilities and young women.
4)Produce final report including key recommendations for future programming, including additional skills necessary to deliver TVET to the above excluded groups.
 
Person Specification:
1)Previous strong, demonstrable experience in carrying out market assessments.
2)Good understanding of both TVET and business communities in the Gaza Strip.
3)Clear working knowledge of cross-cutting issues; gender, inclusion and disability.
4)Extensive background in TVET education and skills
5)Experience and understanding of training for entrepreneurship.
6)Excellent ability to work independently and structure own work and time.
7)Excellent written and spoken Arabic and English.
 
 
Start date:November 2011
Contract period:2.5 months
Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions pay commensurate    with experience
