MEAL Coordinator
The EJ-YMCA is a local Christian non-profit association whose mission is to strengthen and build individuals and communities by establishing programs to develop a true human being in terms of spirit, mind, and body. Its work is based on Christian principles and the values of respect, honesty, dignity, justice, responsibility, and attention. The YMCA integrates everyone regardless of their age, income, abilities, race, religion, or gender. The YMCA is working hard to identify and assess the needs of Palestinian society as it seeks to develop programs that respond to the aspirations of young people and their families.
One of the programs operating under the umbrella of EJ-YMCA is the Rehabilitation Program, which seeks to integrate persons with disability and traumatized as a result of political violence through the adoption of the holistic approach in rendering rehabilitative services at the psychosocial and vocational levels, and enhancing their capacities to ask for their rights employing specialized and professional teams that cover the whole areas of the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in coordination and partnership with all elements of the Palestinian society in the aim of creating an acceptable and supportive environment that enables them to practice their rights as citizens living in a free and democratic country characterized by social justice and indiscrimination.
The EJ- YMCA Rehabilitation Program seeks to hire a full-time MEAL Coordinator with the following qualifications:
Job Title: MEAL Coordinator
Location: Beit Sahour
Direct Supervisor: Director of the Rehabilitation Program
Contract Term: One year, with the possibility of renewal
Purpose of the Position:
The MEAL Coordinator will play a crucial role in establishing and maintaining a robust MEAL system within the Rehabilitation Program. The role aims to ensure that the program's activities are effectively monitored, evaluated, and documented to enhance accountability, improve program quality, and facilitate continuous learning.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Practice and monitor the execution of EJ-YMCA MEAL manual policies and monitor the progress of the Rehabilitation program’s general MEAL plan.
- Monitor and manage data collection tools and collaborate in their design with the Research and Training Unit, ensuring they are appropriate, accurate, and effective for monitoring program activities and outcomes.
- Monitor the collection and transaction of data within team members, in addition to the compilation, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.
- Support Project coordinators in delivering accurate MEAL results in alignment to donor’s requirements.
- Conduct regular field visits to ensure data quality, provide technical support, and promote learning.
- Support the organization and facilitation of program evaluations, assessments, and reviews, both internal and external.
- Collaborate with program staff to develop and implement accountability mechanisms, including feedback and complaint mechanisms for beneficiaries.
- Lead the documentation of lessons learned, best practices, and success stories from program implementation.
- Prepare timely and accurate internal MEAL reports, reflecting the program progress and performance indicators, identifying trends, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate and Support the Research and Training Unit to produce regular research on the EJ-YMCA Rehabilitation Program’s scope of work and practices.
- Train program staff and partners on MEAL principles, tools, and processes to enhance their capacity for data collection and analysis.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards and guidelines for data collection, storage, and sharing.
- Contribute to the program's learning culture by facilitating regular reflections and discussions on monitoring and evaluation findings.
- Collaborate with the Program Director and other relevant stakeholders to incorporate MEAL findings into program design and planning.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in MEAL to ensure continuous improvement of the program's monitoring and evaluation processes.

Skills and Competencies:
- A Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 -3 years of professional experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning within the context of development or humanitarian programs.
- Experience working with NGOs or similar organizations is highly desirable. Familiarity with the East Jerusalem YMCA Rehabilitation Program and its scope of work is an asset.
- Strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative data collection methods and analysis.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing data collection tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable recommendations.
- Experience with database management and data analysis software (e.g., Excel, SPSS).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Arabic and English) for clear reporting and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative, while also being a collaborative team player.
- Detail-oriented, well-organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to identify opportunities for program improvement.
- Ethical conduct and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
