MEAL Officer – National Gaza 09-2024

Location: North Gaza

Role Overview: The MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) Officer will support the MEAL Coordinator in managing and enhancing MEAL activities for emergency projects in North Gaza. This role is crucial for ensuring high standards of program effectiveness, accountability, and responsiveness to community needs, with a focus on robust data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and Evaluation Support:
    • Assist in creating and applying monitoring tools and methodologies for emergency projects.
    • Participate in field visits to assess project implementation against MEAL standards.
    • Contribute to data analysis for project evaluations and impact assessments.
    • Aid in preparing evaluation reports and sharing findings with stakeholders.
  • Accountability:
    • Support the setup and management of beneficiary feedback mechanisms.
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with international accountability standards.
    • Help coordinate responses to beneficiary feedback and complaints.
  • Learning:
    • Document lessons learned and best practices from projects.
    • Support and facilitate learning workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Capacity Building:
    • Assist in training project staff and partenrs on MEAL tools and methodologies.
    • Help develop training materials and support capacity-building efforts.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Contribute to the preparation of MEAL reports for donors and internal stakeholders.
    • Maintain accurate records of MEAL data and activities.
    • Ensure compliance with organizational and donor reporting requirements.
  • Coordination:
    • Work closely with the MEAL Coordinator to integrate MEAL into project activities.
    • Liaise with program teams to ensure MEAL activities are effectively incorporated into project cycles.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in MEAL roles, preferably in emergency settings or comparable professional experience
  • Skills:
    • Familiarity with MEAL tools and methodologies.
    • Strong data analysis, reporting, and communication skills.
    • Experience in beneficiary feedback mechanisms and accountability systems.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office and basic data analysis tools.
  • Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of working under pressure.
  • Language Skills: Arabic and working knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • Legal: Ability to obtain a clean criminal background check.
