About our Country Program

Relief International was operational in OPT starting in 2007, and after entering hibernation period in 2017, has recently reactivated its operations at the end of 2023. Relief International is currently building its response to the current and evolving situation in both Gaza and the West Bank through both a direct implementation and partnership approach. Relief International’s programming in OPT follows Relief International’s global strategy with Health as a central focus with components linked to our work in Health through the sectors of WASH, Protection, Education and Livelihoods. The context in OPT is extremely dynamic and requires focus on nexus programming that brings together both humanitarian service delivery combined with systems strengthening and longer-term programming.

  1. Job Profile

Under the supervision of the Senior MEAL officer, the MEAL Officer will dedicate 100% of his/her time to coordinating data collection activities as well as aggregating, cleaning, and analyzing data. These data will be used for reporting to various stakeholders, including external (donor, cluster) or internal (program management, global reporting). The MEAL Officer in Gaza will be supporting all MEAL related activities implemented in Gaza directly by Relief International and/or in partnership with local and international partners.

  1. Key responsibilities

 Data Management

  • Responsible for overseeing RI’s data collection systems to ensure uniformity of formatting and reporting.
  • Collect all routine (weekly, monthly, etc.) data and enters them into internal RI database, as identified. The Officer, as part of this activity, reviews, cleans, and verifies the data prior to final reports are published.
  • Assist in the routine analysis of data, including indicators, activity tracking, and community feedback per each activity and visualizes the achievement for each month and quarter.
  • Provide feedback to field staff and partners about the common data collection methods and how to produce high-quality data and information in their reports.
  • Report regular activity data on a routine basis.
  • Work effectively as a team member with the field team to improve the quality of the data.
  • Coordinate and check information with field locations on products including but not limited to; project infographics, situation reports & donor reports. Develop data dissemination plans and implement them (e.g., summary reports, graphs, and maps).
  • Work alongside RI’s partners to ensure efficient and accurate data management
  • Maintain a high level of data security, privacy, and control of sharing permissions.
  • Help in conducting surveys and assessments, as needed.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Line Manager and/or CO MEAL.

 Undertaking Regular MEAL activities

  • Facilitate conducting scheduled MEAL activities and plans that need to be rolled out to different project locations.
  • Analyzing and reporting different qualitative and quantitative data collection activities.
  • Provide MEAL inputs for internal and external reports
  • Support in conducting assessments and surveys and lead the data collection teams following planned methodologies and work plans.
  • Conduct routine MEAL visits to the supported facilities.
  • Support RI’s partners in performing MEAL activities as per RI’s plans as well as donors’ requirements.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Line Manager and/or CO MEAL.

Job Requirements
  1. Person Specification

Essential criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in information or data management and processing field or its equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of previous experience in MEAL position for humanitarian or development projects.
  • Very good experience in data collection for various types of MEAL activities (Interviews, checklist, PDM, KAP, Evaluations, ..)
  • Very good knowledge of the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Good experience in using KOBO mobile data collection (tools design – data collection – data retrieving) or other similar platforms.
  • Experienced in data analysis tools and systems (Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, SmartSheets, etc.)
  • Applicable knowledge working with statistic databases.
  • Excellent Arabic. Good verbal and written English skills.
  • Good contextual knowledge of the contexts of RI’s implementation areas, community priorities, social and cultural constraints and realities.
  • Good reporting skills.
