Hona Al Quds English is a news website that aims to present the daily lives of Palestinian Jerusalemites. It covers Human Interest stories related to current political developments from the perspective of the community in East Jerusalem in particular and the West Bank and Gaza in addition. In doing so, it wants to allow an international audience to grasp this reality.
Hona Al Quds English is the sister website of Hona Al Quds Arabic (www.honaalquds.net), both news websites are politically independent and administered by the Institute of Modern Media of Al Quds University.
Duties and responsibilities
The intern will mainly carry out the following tasks:
-Translating feature stories from Hona Al Quds from Arabic to English and editing them for an international audience
-Subtitling videos in English
-Write own feature stories about life in Jerusalem for an international audience
The intern will receive feedback on translations and stories he or she writes and will have the opportunity to be part of a new and upstarting project.
Requirements
-Strong interest in media and in writing for an international audience
-Excellent level of English and Arabic
-Demonstrate great attention to details and work thoroughly
-Ability to multi-task and complete tasks in a timely manner
-Prior media experience is a plus
-Jerusalem ID is a plus, but not required
Practical information
The internship is unpaid and will take place at Al Quds University’s Institute of Modern Media in Al Bireh for a minimum of three months.
