Media Program Facilitator


MA’AN Development Center is an independent Palestinian development and training institution established in January, 1989, registered by law as a non-profit organization. The main office is located in Ramallah and the four branch offices are located in Gaza, KhanYounis, Tulkarem and Jenin. MA’AN's work is informed by the necessity of creating independent, self-reliant initiatives that lead to the development of human resources for sustainable development, which incorporate values of self-sufficiency and self-empowerment.

MA’AN Development Center is interested in hiring a full time Media Coordinator for a project entitled "Adolescents are Agents for Positive Change". The project is implemented in Gaza Strip. The objective of the project is to support Gaza adolescent girls and boys (14-18 years) constructively engagement in their societies as agents of social transformation for advancing sustainable alternatives to social violence and conflict. The project is proposed to result in having 1,000 Adolescent girls and boys (14-18 years) with increased knowledge and skills to lead and participate in constructive initiatives in Gaza, and to have 6,000 adolescent girls and boys (14-18 years) with increased social responsibility through engaging in 32 community initiatives and 200 social learning initiatives supporting for promoted social cohesion.

The project includes a set of media activities as follows:
-Gaza Adolescents Electronic Magazine will be developed and publicized to develop the capacity of adolescents and youth to voice their views and opinions on their day-to-day life and to transmit social change messages. This will enhance adolescents’ access to the public sphere and decision makers, and to work on social mobilization and advocacy issues to influence positive social change. In addition, it will give adolescents a set of creative outlets for self-expression, and to help them avoid keeping their emotions bottled up inside. Therefore, this will enable adolescents to develop a stronger sense of emotional well-being.
-Training for set of adolescents to form a Visibility and Documentation Unit. The unit will work on documenting the adolescents' achievements. This will include the development of at least 3 short films to document campaigns, initiatives, and reflection on impact achieved on adolescents. In addition, the project includes the development and management of a special Facebook Account representing the Social Agent (adolescents) Online Platform.

Role of the Media Program Coordinator:
The Media Program Coordinator will report to the project coordinator. She/he will be responsible for the following activities:
1-Manage the media different activities and ensure its contribution to achieve the project objective and key results.
2-Plan for the different media activities and coordinate for the needed resources and supplies.
3-Lead the planning and management the Gaza Adolescents Electronic Magazine, the vision, editorial cycles and the management procedures.
4-Provide training for adolescents on media enabling for effective contribution in the magazine management, and enabling for professional editing performance.
5-Empower, mentor and coach the magazine crew (adolescents).
6-Oversee the content and ensure the quality of the magazine publications as topical, interesting and informative.
7-Ensure the approval of UNICEF and MA’AN on the visibility and publishing material and meeting the visibility and publishing polices and obligations.
8-Monitor the magazine publishing process.
9-Prepare periodical reports on the media activities progress and achievements.
10-Support the implementation of the Monitoring and Evaluation activities.
11-To document the media activities and maintain an efficient filing system including all media activities related documents.
12-Perform any other tasks required by supervisor or MA'AN Director.

Qualifications and Position Requirements:
-At least a diploma degree from recognized university in Media.
-A minimum of 3 years of professional related experience.
-Proven experience in online and digital media.
-Proven training experience (targeting adolescents in an advantage) and having a ToT certificate (s) in related fields.
-Experienced in different montage and films production software applications.
-Excellent networking and coordination skills.
-Good in both English & Arabic languages including both written and verbal communication skills.
-Excellent reporting skills in both English & Arabic.
-Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
-Advanced computer literacy.
-Ability to work under pressure and within a team.
-Ability to start working immediately.

Prioritizing Advantages:
-Knowledgeable about Social Change modalities.
-Knowledgeable about Social Cohesion concepts and literatures.

Contract Duration:Five months (possibility for 4 months extension)
