In the West Bank and Gaza, IREX brings an innovative youth development approach that will lead the development and implementation of the USAID-funded Partnerships with Youth program in the West Bank.

Partnerships with Youth (PWY) is a five-year, USAID-funded program that builds on and expands USAID-supported Youth Development Resource Centers (YDRCs) to create opportunities for active youth learning and innovation in the West Bank. PWY provides subgrants and technical assistance to five existing YDRCs in Hebron, Jenin, Jericho, Nablus, and Qalqilya to build their organizational capacity and improve their sustainability, and intends to establish six new YDRCs within the next two years.

Summary of Position: 

Under the supervision of the Youth Program/Capacity Building Manager, the Media Specialist will oversee the PWY media programming strategy, design media training content and tools, and provide training and capacity building to the PWY media interns and the YDRCs’ staff. He/She will develop and nurture national- and local-level partnerships in the media sector.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

-Design and implement PWY’s media programming strategy and activity plan; provide creative ideas and input to media programming.
-Develop creative ideas, strategies, and/or partnerships to leverage most up-to-date approaches for youth to use media to exercise their voice in community, promote their needs and interests, and build their skills.
-Design and deliver media TOTs, training, and technical assistance to build capacity of YDRCs. 
-Recruit and manage STTA related to media/communications, as necessary.

-Provide media technical support to YDRCs, as requested.
-Coach and mentor PWY media interns and youth to develop meaningful media products and to disseminate and share their work through a variety of mediums.
-Oversee direct implementation of media activities in three governorates (Bethlehem, Jerusalem, and Ramallah).
-Assist YDRCs with the development and implementation of media programming.
-Assist the M&E and Communications Specialist to jointly develop the PWY media/communication plan, under guidance of COP and in collaboration with other PWY staff.
-Work closely with M&E and Communication Specialist to develop PWY communications products.
-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

-University degree in media, journalism, communications, or relevant field.
-At least three to five years of relevant work experience in media, communications, and/or journalism.
-Demonstrated technical skills with print, broadcast (video and audio), and digital media tools and equipment. 
-Experience designing and implementing training for youth and/or adults strongly preferred.
-Must be a self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work under minimum supervision.
-Strong written and verbal skills in both Arabic and English.
-Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a team.
-Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
-Ability to prioritize and manage a high workload expeditiously.
-Previous experience on USG-funded projects is highly desirable.

-Willingness to work in flexible manner as necessary in terms of number of working hours per day and days of work (i.e., weekends).
-Excellent communication, cooperative, and collaborative approach to teamwork.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-Ability/willingness to travel frequently, including on weekends, as/if required.
-Diligent attention to detail.
-Ability and enthusiasm to work with youth.
