About the position

Job title : MEDICAL INTERPRETER

Type of contract : Contract & Daily Worker Pool

Post location : Khan Younis, Deir Al Balah

Starting date : As soon as possible.

Medical Interpreters have the same responsibility as other team members to comply with MSF principles, code of condutct, as well as having the same responsibility to maintain patient confidentiality.

• Required to give an accurate translation.
• Cannot act as a counsellor, a psychologist, or a therapist. During translations, cannot add anything from their side.
• Any personal opinion about the patient, the context, the situation, the team can be discussed AFTER the translation.
• Do not share any information with others,if not only with MHAM and MTL if requested. Keep and respect max confidentiality always.
• Do not judge, do not insulte, be neutral and professional.
• Facilitate the communication among the team, be clear and report any communication issue promptly to MHAM/PMR
• Follow the suggestion of the Psychologist, Counsellors, MHAM, MHS in order to provide the accurate translation in different settings (bedside, office, clinic, etc) and according to the different age of the patients (children, adolescent, adult).
• Provide written translation when is needed.

Education

•          Essential University education.

•          Desirable official translator degree (Mission working language)

Experience

Previous working experience required. Desirable with MSF or other NGOs

Languages                         

Mission and local languages essential.
