Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Officer
Médecins du Monde (MDM) France is an International Medical Organization, which has been present in the Palestinian Territories since 1995. It operates in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank through offices located in Jerusalem, Gaza and Nablus.

MHPSS Officer, Deir Balah Base (2 Position)

Type: Full Time Contract
Main objectives:
Assist in the implementation of MHPSS activities of MdM France in Gaza Base and facilitate the delivery of a quality MHPSS activities on different levels.
Specific Objectives:
- Implement MHPSS Activities within MdM France MHPSS projects, medical and non-medical projects.
- Implement MHPSS Integration activities internally within MdM medical and non-medical projects or externally with MdM France partners in Gaza.
- MHPSS Capacity Building activities for specialized and non-specialized, medical, non-medical service provision settings.
- Implement supervisory activities upon MdM France Partner`s MHPSS Activities.
- Implementation and improvement of effective field activities monitoring and reporting, including data collection and analysis.
- Enhance capacity building for local partners and community-based organizations, particularly focusing on social workers and psychologists. It will be implemented through supervision, training and discussions.
- Follow up the data collection of local partners and CBOs and improve the reporting, Psychosocial Assessment forms and other forms related to their activities.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Main responsibilities and activities of the MHPSS Officer change according to the organization of the work and the team's composition.

Programming
Technical / Operational Organization
- Assist MdM Mental Health Team in planning, implementation, and follow-up of MHPSS project
- activities implemented by MdM France staff/partners under the supervision of Direct supervisor.
- Supervise and provide technical support for medical and non-medical MHPSS Teams including experienced Mental Health staff (social workers, psychologists), and other MdM France Local Partners with whom activities are conducted.
- Participate in capacity building activities for governmental and non-governmental partners according to the MHPSS Manager suggestions.
- To assess the training needs of MdM France partners and organize comprehensive training sessions for staff accordingly. Prepare for these sessions by defining training requirements, topics, agendas, attendance sheets, pre-post-tests, and banners.
- Participate in the cluster meetings and other relevant meetings under the delegation of the Mental Health Manager.
- Implement and follow-up MHPSS projects activities of MdM France under supervision of MHPSS Manager.
- Participate in the process of designing emergency response methodologies, field activities, preparedness, and response plans.
- Participate in the supervision and monitoring MHPSS teams and focal points under supervision and delegation by direct supervisor.
- Participate in defining, communicating, and reporting plans and pathways for field activities.
- Participate in the planning and scheduling of project activities if requested by the direct supervisor.
- Provide structured technical support and contribute to the construction of the referral pathways related to GBV component.
- Provide structured technical information on case management for MHPSS cases.
Field /Follow up and monitor
- Contribute with the data collection considering the tools for field use by MdM France Partners MHPSS Teams and other data needed (NGO, PHCCs and Hospitals).
- Participate in the assessments and final reports enhancing the narrative related with the data collected.
- Contribute to create assessment forms and other technical files and forms according to the needs of MHPSS field teams under MHPSS Manager guidance.
- Ensure that the trainees complete satisfactorily their training course, through an assessment of trainees’ attendance and of their performance.
- Participate in the data collection needed for assessments and final reports.
- Collaborate and participate in any field survey, data collection, and/or need assessment organized by MdM-F in relation to health.
- Analyse collected data on monthly, quarterly, or Annual bases or/and as needed by MdM France Mental Health Department.
- Help on the advocacy about MHPSS in case it needed.
- Develop specific educational materials for technical topics and capacity building activities.
- Keep and improve the current referral system for MHPSS cases in coordination with the Direct supervisor
Reporting
- Provide program operational reports based on the request of the Direct supervisor.
- Provide monthly report of activities not later than the 4th of the following month.
- Contribute to the MHPSS data analysis in collaboration with the Direct supervisor.
- Immediately report emergency MHPSS needs at community level to the direct supervisor.
- Immediately report HR misconduct to the Field.co and Admin Manager
- Provide with any other requested report when needed.
Others
Maintain good socio-professional relationships with national and international partners. - If necessary, contribute to preparing emergency plans with the MDM-F team to adjust the Mental health activities under MHPSS Manager indications.
- Perform other additional duties on request of the MHPSS Manager and field coordinator.

Requested Competence/Skills/Profile
- A Psychology Degree (including Clinical Psychology, Counselling, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support studies will be accepted) and valid professional license certificate to practice issued by MoH.
- ToT Helping of the Helpers training would be an asset.
- Previous mhGAP training would be an asset.
- Valuable experience in training and supervising MHPSS Teams.
- Experience in individual, family and group sessions.
- Experience related to Mental Health assessment.
- Experience in providing psychoeducation at the group level (community).
- Experience in MHPSS Interventions in Emergencies.
- Proficient in managing network activities with national or international NGOs and official service providers.
- Previous work experience with international organizations.
- Knowledge of MHPSS international guidelines
- To be able to work independently.
- Excellent writing skills and Computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Arabic and English (both written and spoken)
