Médecins du Monde (MDM) France is an International Medical Organization, which has been present in the Palestinian Territories since 1995. It operates in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank through offices located in Jerusalem, Gaza and Nablus.

MdM is currently looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Mental Health Doctor based in Gaza Strip 

Mental Health Doctor, Gaza Base (1 Position)

Main Objective:

Support MdM MHPSS activities by integrating mental health into healthcare initiatives in Gaza, ensuring the effectiveness of services.

Tasks and responsibilities

General Responsibilities

• Implement MHPSS activities within MdM France’s MHPSS, medical, and non-medical projects, including integration activities both internally and externally with MdM France partners in Gaza.
• Assess the training needs of MdM France partners and organize tailored training sessions for staff to address those needs comprehensively.
• Implement capacity-building activities for specialized and non-specialized health service providers in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) through targeted training sessions. This includes participating in the preparation for trainings by defining training needs, topics, and agendas, as well as organizing attendance sheets, pre- and post-tests, and promotional materials, ensuring delivery aligns with the established work plan.
• Enhance capacity building for local partners and community-based organizations, focusing specifically on social workers and psychologists. This will be implemented through technical supervision (individual and group sessions), training sessions, and collaborative discussions.
• Assist the MdM Mental Health Team in planning, implementing, and following up on MHPSS project activities carried out by MdM France staff and partners, under the delegation of the functional supervisor and with prior approval from the MHPSS Manager.
• Participate in monitoring the MHPSS teams and focal points of local partners, under the delegation of the functional supervisor and with prior approval from the MHPSS Manager.
• Provide a monthly, quarterly, or annual report of activities in due time.
• Collaborate and participate in any field survey, data collection, and/or need assessment organized by MDM-F in relation to health, MHPSS, SRH, GBV or any other relevant topic.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in medicine, Post Graduate Degree in Mental Health (or similar relevant background) and valid professional license certificate to practice issued by MoH.
• Professional experience in delivering medical care within MHPSS programs to diverse population groups, including adults, children, and adolescents.
• Experience in implementing MHPSS integration activities in healthcare settings, both within MdM medical projects and with local partners in Gaza, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
• Previous experience in delivering medical training and providing supervision to both specialized and non-specialized professionals within MHPSS programs.
• Considerable knowledge of WHO mhGAP HIG Guidelines, DSM 5 and other international MHPSS guidelines resources.
• Experience in detection and Management of Mental Health Conditions in Health-care settings
• Fluency in Arabic and English (both written and spoken) is mandatory.
