Médecins du Monde (MDM) France is an International Medical Organization, which has been present in the Palestinian Territories since 1995. It operates in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank through offices located in Jerusalem, Gaza and Nablus.

MdM is currently looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of MHPSS Supervisor based in Gaza Strip.

MHPSS Supervisor, Gaza Base (1 Position)

Main Objective:

Assist in the implementation of MHPSS activities of MdM France in Gaza Base and facilitate the delivery of a quality MHPSS activities on different levels.

Tasks and responsibilities

General Responsibilities

  • Implement MHPSS activities within MdM France’s MHPSS, medical, and non-medical projects, including integration activities both internally and externally with MdM France partners in Gaza.
  • Support the MHPSS Manager in ensuring a quality implementation of MHPSS program and a close follow-up in its different aspects: Logistical, administrative and technical.
  • Support the MHPSS Manager in addressing important technical issues that require their supervisory input, including feedback on decision-making and tailored interventions for referrals and sensitive cases handled by the MHPSS team.
  • Through the clinical supervision provided to tech MHPSS team members (psychologists, mental health doctor, MHPSS Officer, social workers, etc.), to ensure the adherence to the set protocols and SOPs while delivering the MHPSS activities and that all tools are properly completed and safely stored.
  • Report to the MHPSS Manager any concerning issue observed or raised by the MHPSS team.
  • Ensure the proper monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of MHPSS program activities by ensuring qualitative and quantitative data collection by the team in accordance with MdM standards.
  • In coordination with the MHPSS Manager, support the MEAL department in the proper data analysis and produce related summaries in a monthly basis to report progress on MHPSS activities, in addition to highlighting challenges and recommendations for the way forward.
  • Based on field experience and identified needs in MHPSS, provide input to the MHPSS Manager to contribute to the updating of existing MdM guidelines and SOPs, while also documenting lessons learned to enhance future MHPSS initiatives
  • Support the MHPSS Manager in planning movements, monitoring, and following up on the activities of the MdM MHPSS team.
  • Provide technical input from each MHPSS team member to the MHPSS Manager for consideration in the HR evaluation considering his/her role as supervisor.
  • Support the MHPSS Manager in the conduction of internal team meetings, technical meetings, case discussions and trainings.
  • Ensure effective information flow within the MHPSS Team by maintaining clear communication channels and ensuring message content is understood, with the understanding that all communications must be approved by the MHPSS Manager as part of the hierarchical line.

Specific Responsibilities in the project.

  • Report to the MHPSS Manager the key findings from the supervision and activities of the MHPSS team, providing timely feedback to be shared with other managers, if necessary, specifically the Gaza Protection Consortium Manager (GPC).
  • Given the volume of projects that include MHPSS activities, ensure that the data provided by the MHPSS team is up to date, including individual activities (with analysis by gender, primary symptomatology, and risk factors) and awareness sessions, to provide timely information to the MHPSS Manager.
  • Upon delegation by the MHPSS Manager, coordinate the MHPSS service delivery with local partners.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in psychology. A master’s degree in clinical psychology or a Post Graduate High Diploma in Community Mental Health is mandatory.
  • Professional experience providing psychological care individually and to different population groups: adults, children, and adolescents.
  • Professional experience in the relevant field, including technical supervision of mental health teams (both individual and group), clinical cases and tam management.
  • Considerable knowledge of mhGAP Guidelines, DSM 5, IASC and other international MHPSS guidelines resources.
  • Previous work experience with international organizations, particularly in emergency contexts, along with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (both written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Excellent writing skills and Computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
