Position Summary
In collaboration with the Projects’ Manager and MHPSS technical team and the Emergency Field Coordinator, the MHPSS Technical officer will support UPA's emergency response in Gaza.
The MHPSS Technical Supervisor will be responsible for providing expert services to community members in need for individual and/or group counselling and provide technical support to the field MHPSS workers. This involves MHPSS basic case management, individual counselling sessions, family counselling sessions, psychoeducation activities, and/ or group counselling sessions and recreational activities, and provision of technical support and guidance to the MHPSS workers.

Main Responsibilities:
· Provide technical support to the MHPSS workers.
· Ensure technical tools and approaches are well developed and implemented by the MHPSS workers.
· Work with the MHPSS coordinator to capture and report all required data and information and support in the case management/referral.
· Understand and identify the psychosocial needs of affected people.
· Individually, provide PFA, basic individual psychological support, and counseling for referred cases by the MHPSS field workers as needed and refer cases for the MHPSS coordinator for follow up and referral, as applicable
· Carry out Brief Individual and Group PFA and Counseling sessions for women and children, other groups (IDPs and non IDPs) to alleviate their psychosocial difficulties/distress within the response scope.
· Coordinate with the intervention coordinator, refer clients to other specialists or other institutions/service providers for further appropriate assistance, when necessary, to propose and/ or provide the best support available.
· Maintaining the confidentiality of client.
· Participate in the creation of any material needed for PSS counseling and psychoeducational activities.
· Implementing MHPSS awareness Sessions when it is required.
· Support recreational activities that are implemented by UPA in identified shelter/areas.
· Support the group activities and activation (recreational) activities for children in formal shelters ensuring that the supplier complies with UPA’s requirements and general technical oversight.
· Reporting and documentation for activities.
· Actively participating in team meetings.
· Regularly participate in supervision sessions lead by the technical Supervisor.
· Perform any other relevant task/activity requested by the projects’ manager
· Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
· The qualified candidate will be a mental health PSS professional (psychologist, psychotherapist, psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse, or other related background). Master’s degree is preferable.
· Experience working with NGOs with minimum of 4 years of professional experience in MHPSS projects in humanitarian settings.
· Good level of English.
· Good know-how with Excel, Word, and Power Point.
· Honest, hardworking, and self-motivated
· Strong interpersonal skills and Demonstrated skills to work in a fluid environment with changing priorities and plans.
· Willingness and ability to interact well and create positive working relationships with different teams, partners, networks and local actors and mobility
· Legal license of practicing Psychologist, Psych. Counselor, Mental Health Professional, is preferred.
· Ready to work long hours in an emergency response environment.
