 The Arab American University-Jenin has received a grant from the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF)-Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Funded by the World Bank and EC, to implement the project of "Multimedia Language Learning Labs" for advance English instruction at its English Language Center (ELC). AAUJ intends to apply part of this grant for developing of a course and for that the selection of highly qualified Multimedia Designer according to the following requirements:

Assignment Objectives:

AAUJ are considering the selection of highly qualified Multimedia Designer to conduct the following:

Task-1. :
Build and design a Multimedia learning software for language learning in the field of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in collaboration with AAUJ academic staff. The courses must be based on an assessment of purposes, needs and the functions for which English is required for ESP courses, it also needs analysis that determines which language skills are most needed by the students from the four language skills; listening, reading, speaking and writing. The required design is needed for development of two courses in medical terminology for dentistry students, and biology and genetics for biotechnology students. The first course should explain the dental concepts and describe dental anatomy for easier understanding by students and supplement a regular core course in the faculty of dentistry. The second course is based on a comic story explaining genetic engineering through describing basic concepts and current issues in genetics like cloning and trans-genesis.

The content of both courses will include the following:

1-Interactive multimedia tutorials.
2-Self-playing tutorial/self running presentation.
3-Self assessment /practices/evaluation.
4-Text summary design in (PDF) files.

Task-2:
Conducting training sessions in the field of CALL and the use of multimedia teaching and learning to train faculty members in various colleges on how to develop and generate other courses using MM technology including: Teachers Authoring Packages to generate complete lessons containing video and audio clips, listen and respond simulations, simultaneous interpretation exercises, and automated web site access. The course contents are:

-Computer-Assisted Learning (CAL).
-Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI).
-Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS).
-Web-based Training (WBT).
-Using multimedia authoring tools.
-Using e-learning building tools.

Minimum Requirements:
-A Bachelor degree in IT, computer science or any related field.
-At least three years experience in teaching and training.
- Must be familiar with the English language solutions & multimedia language laboratories.

-Must have an experience in:

-Sound editing (Adobe sound booth or sound forge).
-Video editing (Adobe premiere or Adobe after Effect).
-Image editing (Adobe Photoshop is preferred).
-3D modeling.
-Adobe Flash.
-Action script and adobe captivate are bonus
-Good experience in Adobe Flash, premier, illustrator.
-Excellent communication and team work skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidates should be able to perform the followings:
-Develop multimedia components in ESP course for the faculty of Dentistry.
-Develop multimedia components in ESP course for faculty of Arts and Sciences..
-Testing courses to be used in the MML laboratories.
-Arranging and conducting the CAL training course for other colleges.
-Developing appropriate training materials and content for the course.
-Conducting a post-training course evaluation and follow-up.

Deliverables:

-Two ESP multimedia courses on CD or DVD.
-Course outline a week before the course starts.
-Completion of 30 contact hour training for the sessions.
-Final report including the trainer’s evaluation, training material.
-Colleges & departments feedback in the developed course.

TIME FRAME:
The duration of the assignment is 3 month: Feb 1, 2010 – April 31, 2010.

CONTRACT:
Type: Lump - Sum Consultancy contract.
