National Stress Counselor
The main role of the National Stress Counselor will be to assist the UNStress Counselor to build a sustainable stress management system in the UN Offices operating in Gaza, to provide on going counseling and support, and to improve critical incident stress management preparedness of the UN security system in case of emergencies. One of two National Stress Counselor positions in GAZA, this post needs to be filled by a gender-appropriate incumbent who will be working with a predominantly male population living in a traditional society.
Description of Responsibilities:
Under the administrative supervision of the Stress Counselor, I/WB/G, the National Staff Stress Counselor will be responsible for the following duties & responsibilities:

1-Assist in implementing a wide range of stress management activities, including the UNDSS CISMU standard operational procedure on critical incident stress in Gaza.
2-Assist in developing and implementing a stress management plan for the UN Offices in Gaza.
3-Assist in performing an ongoing assessment and monitoring of the determinants of stress in the UN Offices, as well as stress levels among the UN staff in Gaza.
4-Provide individual and group counseling sessions for staff and their dependents.

5-Conduct training sessions on stress and stress related issues for UN staff.
6-Assist the Stress Counselor in organizing and conducting peer helper training workshops for a selected group of UN staff jointly with the UNDSS CISMU and to follow up on their activities in Gaza.
7-Promote, plan and implement welfare activities for UN staff in Gaza.
8-Identify, address and follow-up on critical incident stress cases among UN staff in Gaza. 9-Travel regularly to UN Offices/Sub-Offices in Gaza in order to implement preventative and mitigating stress management activities.
10-Liaise with local experts and institutions in Gaza for referral, as well as with UN line managers, medical doctors, and local physicians in order to build a network of professionals ready to support and intervene in case of need.
11-Advise UN Management on stress mitigating strategies, decisions and activities in Gaza.
12-Provide monthly reports to the UN Sress Counselor on all activities.

1-Planning & Organizing – The ability to achieve goals and objectives and prioritize activities. Monitor and adjust plans and use time efficiently.
2-Teamwork – Courteous and tactful with the ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds in a multi-cultural, multiethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Qualifications :
Education
1-Advanced university degree in psycho-educational studies, psychology, psychiatry, clinical social work or other clinical mental health disciplines.
2- Certification or country-specific licensure authorizing the incumbent to deliver mental health services.
b. Work Experience
1- Minimum three years of professional experience in psychological counseling with special emphasis on critical incident stress.
2-Additional training or experience in a broad range of related fields, such as children and family counseling, stress management, critical incident stress and cross-cultural communication would be an asset.
3-Experience with the United Nations or any international organization is desirable.
4-Well-developed communication, leadership and team-building skills.
Experience working with male beneficiaries in a culturally traditional or religious setting.
c. Languages
Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic;
